iirc, keeps the idle rocker arms from opening the valves under normal driving conditions.

The funny of this is that yesterday my car make the best time 13.4 with this broken piece, hope when I fix it get 13 flat.

that is funny, seems kinda strange.

is vtec engaging? is so, are you sure it is cracked and its not just a casting mark?

I put out the valve cover tomake a valve lash adjustment, and I realiza that the bolts of the lost motion assembly are loose, and the part is separated on 2 parts, the crack is in the middle of pistons 1 and 2, then I tigth the bolts and did the valve adjustment, may be the valve adjustment helps me top improve the time.

I´m lost (motion assembly)!!!

its prolly still functioning but you might want to go to the junkyard or search the forums for one.

i am going to say lean on the side of caution. all it takes is one little peice of metal to ruin everything.

all the lost motion assembely does is keep the vtec rocker arm from flapping around, when vtec is not engaged it still rolls on the cam but without the lma holding pressure on it, the vtec rocker arm would just flap around...

lma's on a single cam are a piece of cake to swap, you dont even have to take out the valvetrain just the 10 12mm bolts, pull the lma assembely up and replace the lma's.

most of the time when lma's go bad you will here this ticking that sounds like a loose rocker arm, like you need a valve adjustment bad but it never goes away, trust me i just replaced all 8 on my friends b16 pulled both cams out and everything took me about an hour from start to finish :) no more clicking

Then my vtec is not working??

idk if it works or not in your car lol... but im saying all the lma does is keep the vtec rocker from flapping around inside the head when not in vtec, when vtec is engaged the vtec pins activate the vtec rocker and they are all as 1

The LMA's only keep the VTEC rockers from rattling around while on low cam.

Doesn't effect WOT performance.
