I have the apexi auto turbo timer........i wanted to know if anyone else that uses this timer actually goes through the trouble of hooking up the o2 sensor voltage? I am going to have an actual wideband (plx-m300) readout in my car to read the afr, so would anyone recommend messing with splicing into the ecu harness to get a "theoretical" afr reading?
Heres my next question:

here is a picture of my harness......i know exactly how it hooks up underneath the knee bolster of the dash.......all except ONE wire. The single white wire on the furthest right side of the harness. what does that go to? I couldnt figure out exactly what it was for. anyone know?
here is a pic of the timer and wiring:

the white wire is for the o2 splice in the ecu, the gray wire is for the parking brake switch (which i know i need to hook up), and the black wire is ground (which will ground to the ecu ground when the o2 voltage is hooked up and ground to anyother ground on the vehicle when the o2 sensor is not hooked up).
can anyone help me out?
thanks

using this diy install thread of the harness, i dont see them using a wire like that with their harness....

i didnt use the harness, but i didnt ever use that white wire. i just spliced in like i found in a thread on turbod16. i have a plxm300 also. if you plan on using the Auto timer feature you will need to wire up the O2 sensor, and wiring it to your wideband doesnt work with the settings the Apexi manual tells you. i am trying to play with the settings to get them close so i can try to get an accurate reading.

Im not really worried about the afr feature on it, but just to make sure i understand you......you CAN still hook the plx up with the apexi timer wired to the o2 sensor wire correct? The o2 sensor basically gives you the auto timer function and the afr's on the apexi are "estimated" through the reading of the o2 voltage?
The main thing of my concern is that white wire........it DOES NOT need to be hooked up, am i understanding that correctly?

like i said i didnt use the harness so im not exactly sure where it goes, and if you wire your wideband to your O2 wire then the TT will not read it, i think you could wire the TT to the narrowband output on the wideband tho...
I spliced the the 02 sensor voltage wire 1 inch away from the ECU...
Works great and took 5 minutes to do...
Granted it's narrow band but it's still a decent indicator on whether you're rich or lean... It's helped me out when my innovate lm1 is not working...

well, i just realized that im running open loop.....so i dont even have an o2 sensor installed. So is there a point in wiring up the o2 sensor voltage if the o2 sensor is disabled?

I have the apexi turbo timer and I dont have my wide band conected, IŽll conect my wide band to a digital a/f gauge.

so if i dont hook my o2 voltage up, i wont have the auto timer settings, so what is the best time setting for the manual selection? i mean, whats a good idle time on average?

I would say around 1-2 minutes would be sufficient.

i was thinking 1.5 minutes.....right between 1-2.....
:TU: thats prolly what i will do.
If i just make a trip up town to go to the gas station and dont go into boost or drive it hard, i can just not use my e-brake and the timer will not come one correct? because i dont want the timer to let the car idle if it doesnt need to (that is where the auto mode comes into handy)

Well, it's never a bad thing to let the oil circulate through it, no matter how hard you drive it.

this is also a very good thought.......i usually let it idle about 30 seconds - 1 minute right now without the timer, and thats not including the time that i idle to my parking spot....
