Has anyone done this and did you have any noticable improvements.
Like high revs and fuel?

I've never had a 4-cylinder balanced, but I've had V-8's done and it makes a big difference.Have you seen a V-8 with a big cam, high compression, big carb, etc. vibrating like hell? When you have them balanced you can honestly set a full glass of water on the air cleaner and it'll never vibrate any water out! That is if it's a real good balance job.The engine does rev quicker and smoother. When you have it done it puts alot less strain on the engine, especially the rods.If you have it done,be sure and ask the shop where they take material away from. Most will take some from the bottom flats of the rod caps and from the bottom flats of the piston skirts.I've saw some shops that will actually drill with a flat nose bit on the underside of the piston in different spots until they reach the desired weight.I think that method would make the piston weak.If you have a acurrate digital scale you can do it yourself, just file or grind as I mentioned the preferred method until all 4 rods and all 4 pistons weigh the same.I've saw many circle trackers on a budget do this with great results.

Well engine balance is for sure a good thing to do. Can add up to 15% HP, it will dramitically increase the life of your bearings and engine in general. There are no down sides to engine balancing AT ALL.
Improved Power, Life, Fuel, Less Vibration....
only down side.. finding someone to do it for you !!! :P
