i did a compression test on a jdm d15 because i wanted to boost this engine with about 10psi(its completely stock) but the numbers have me kinda worried. keep in mind that the gauge on the tester always started at 15psi for some reason it wouldn't go back to zero after releasing pressure but i checked each cylinder twice and results were consistant. one cylinder had 202psi the next 200 then 187 then 196. Now 187psi is a 15psi difference over the highest cylinder. is it a bad idea to boost this engine as it is?

why would you wann boost 15 lbs on a stock motor, rebuild it or find out if it is the rings or valves bad.

I'd boost it. Doesnt sound that bad imo its within spec to eachother.

those readings sound strange how exactly are you preforming this comp. test ? what kind of gauge im pretty sure 185 on all 4 is factory spec and will be fine all the way down to 165

i don't even read the question when some asks "should i boost it?"i always say go for it!in this case i would have to agree with me.your numbers are fine boost it up!!!!and yes for the record i am drunk as hell...SO WHAT?:alky:

yeah really how did you do the test exactly.

battery fully charged?
WOT while cranking?
car warmed up?

get a new gauge perhaps as well... i wouldnt trust one that does zero out like it supposed to.

schucks compression tester FTW! I've had it for years and it's accurate.

I unplugged the injector wires, pulled the plugs, put a battery charger on full blast the whole time then tested each cylinder twice

i think i am gunna boost it cause i got this car (smashed from the rear end) for 100$ so if it doesnt hold fuck it its only 100 dollar engine

the gauge always started at 15 and my highest number was 202 so if u subtract 15 away from 202 the number is 187 which is right around what u said is fine.

what i didn't do was warm the engine up first. i think ill try that get a new gauge and hopefully get more accurate results. thanks guys!
