Skunk2 only comes in a stage 1 cam. Crower stage 2, bisimoto stage 2, and akmee type s are the best for a mild n/a engine.

Any A6 cam will work, including the stock A6 cam. Just use a Y7/Y8 cam gear or an adjustable.

hey if my set up is pretty stock (i/h/e) and i dont have any plans of ever boosting, should i get the crower stage 1 or 2. I dont have the money to add the vlave springs and retainers that are recommended for the stage 2 but are they crucial for long life?? i just want to add more pep to a daily driver and i need reliablity!!

Depends on the lift of the cam. I'm not sure the limit on D springs, but I tend to think "pay now or pay later," with these kind of things.

Going with an aftermarket set of springs will net you better hp gains. Even if the stock springs dont bind yet. The better springs will allow quicker opening and closing of the valves. Being more efficient in the process. But IMO anything bigger than a level 2/stage 2, I would go with upgraded springs.. Better safe than sorry.

skunk's D stuff is no good. go with our ATS kits, Crower 2/3 or Bisi. stay away from zex/crane too.

if you are on a super budget, you can actually use stock d16z6 valve springs if you plan to stay at 8000 or below. D valve train are small and light. stock springs are plenty good until 8000.

i can't speak for others but for our type-s you can indeed run it with stock springs. but most D are 100k+ milage so we usually recommend type-s cam + springs as minimum.
the ti retainers is entirely option...

He stated the stage 1 is about a 10% gain over stock in another thread. Stage 2 is about 15%.

It is been said that it is good for boost applications. I think if you use it on an N/A motor very high compression and nice cam to compliment the "package" would be worth it then.

Go with whats proven... Not with whats cool.... Bisimoto is the worlds fastet SOHC.. Thats proven every weekend at races. Just go to his website and look for yourself. You wouldnt go to a Steak house to get a Lobster dinner would you?? Not if you were smart. You would go to a place that specializes in Lobster... Does that make sense???

Only cams I would buy is Bisi, Crower, or Amkee. Stage 2 or bigger, get the springs and retainers. Simple as that
