More to come as the engine is finished, just waiting on the head to return from the machine shop. The Level 3 cam was so big that the head needed to be notched to allow for proper clearance of the cam lobes. :)

Yes the piston dome is ceramic coated and the skirts are also coated for lower friction. When the cam and head come back from the machine shop I can takes some more pics.

Right, installed a few myself. Just where the guard meets the block at a few points, I don't see a seam, it looks perfectly smooth.

Mine is welded at several points, the machinist who did this block is top notch.

I am extremely thankful for the effort/advice/time/ and parts that he has helped me with. I have nothing but good things to say concerning him, his business, and esp customer service. After dealing with him for nearly a year it is quite obvious in my opinion that he is more interested in helping people with their projects and goals than making a quick buck.
MOMO Monte Carlo wheel?
x2 I have one on the old car and one on the new car, both have a 2 step button drilled in them though.

The compression is 14.x:1 :)
And S18 that cam picture is actually a Level 2 which is dwarfed by the Level 3. I havent taking a picture of the Level 3 since it is still at the machine shop, when it comes back I will post up some more.

Those pistons are interesting in shape. I wonder, why there's so much sharp edges and shapes on dome, why they're not smoothed out?
Head looks nice too, few pics from intake ports and chambers please 8)
What valves you're using, and what size?
Why didn't you sleeve the block for 79mm? 8)

can you post some detailed pics of your headwork, do you know the port sizes on the intake and exhaust in mm ? the port entry, as well did you enlarge the ports.. i would doubt it with the size of the bloody cam... i thought my crower stage 3 was big =\
sl@sh
06-03-2007, 09:00 AM
enlarging the port entry is of little concern.. its the bowl and short side radii that rocks...
bigtuna, good luck on this thang!
do let us know what e.t she blasts, wud love to know what it puts down on the dyno.. but e.t should be more important hehe

I believe since the pistons are coated that it cool the pistons down enough to not worry about hot spots on the sharp edges, also with the fuel type and octane there wont be detonation issues outside of tuner error, esp since the cam will bleed off alot of the static compression.
What valves you're using, and what size?
Stock size REV Stainless valves
Why didn't you sleeve the block for 79mm? 8)
Baby steps, plus if i sleeve a block it with have a shorter stroke and alumunim rods :)
Menkio: I wont show everything since I like to keep alot of stuff private ect, there is alot more crazy stuff involved in this build that I wont show out of respect of those who helped me out. I will say the intake and exhaust ports are gasket matched, the blox intake manifold is gasket matched each runner end was reworked around the injector.

Update is I am waiting for the head to come back from the machine shop, when I dropped the head they were swamped so I knew it was going to be a wait. The car is in the garage leveled out and I am mocking up my new custom motor motors ( moved the engine 1.5 inch forward for better axle geometry) and a completely new hydrolic clutch system. The gas tank is sumped and new fuel system installed.
I was wondering if people would want me to post my drag car build up from bare chassis to completion. Highlight alot of the custom stuff I do and some of my workmanship. I dont want to clog up the forum if people are not interested.
The management is Electromotive Tec 2, and SOHCinWA it is Stephen and yes they are big dollar parts but it has taking almost 2 yrs of work, saving, shoveling snow and sidejobs for me to buy this setup, no baller here

But you do know that when its together, Its going to rip. Most people will not believe that its just a little D under the hood... :TU: All the hard work will be well worth it.

what octane are you going to run on this setup?
BigTuna
06-17-2007, 09:25 PM
Ok sounds good I will start a new thread in the next couple days to show the ground up build of my car.
Octane will either be in the 112-114 range or some custom blend fuel I want to try :)
