i popped my hood to check my oil and i saw my timing belt was rubbing on the steel braided oil feed line. It wasnt like that for long because i check my oil daily and i check that when i check my oil. But it was rubbing. i dont know how long, but how much should i be worrying about the timing belt breaking?

thanks

the other day I found my throttle cable rubbing on mine,(dx throttle cable on the mpfi...lol)
& I drove for 30 miles like that,

I would say...if it didnt show any damage,,,(NONE at all)
I wouldnt worry about it,IMO
but if it did,
I would get it changed asap!,,,

there was some black residue on the oil line obviously, but it really didnt seem like alot.....then again, im not sure. Ill have my tuner take a look at it and see what he thinks.

thanks for the inputs......any more are greatly appreciated.

That is why I route my feed line the other way or just put the cam gear cover back on. If you have an adjustable cam gear on just cut a circle on the cam gear cover so you have excesses to it.

post some pics, i would say it should be fine, long as it didn't put a grove on the belt or something of that nature... there pretty durable...

no groove or anything....it was perfectly fla against the back side so if there was any wear at all it was an even wear.

this is how I ran my oil feed line.

you might want to think about doing it that way.

i ran mine just like that......i have the extra coiled up behind and under the intake manifold......some of the coil cam out and caused the belt to rub on the backside of the timing belt (side closest to the back of the car) it was an even rub though....not sure how long it was like this, maybe an evening.....

double check your belt to make sure that it is not damaged in any way. if it looks worn at all, replace it. its a hell of a lot cheaper replacing the timing belt than replacing your motor if that belt snaps.

Maybe put the cover back on?

if the belt isn't frayed any i would say keep it, but if you have a lot invested in the engine i would change it just to be safe, and then put the cover back on to protect it in the future

reminds me i need to change my timing belt and tensioner, and my stupid a/c belt tensioner because it is squeeking really bad right now.
