Transmission Gains

I have a question. I currently have a 1992 civic lx pretty much stock setup. I don't have too much money so im not really looking into getting a swap, maybe mini me style later on. But anyways I heard if you switch to a ex/si (92-95) transmission you can lower your 1/4 mile time by 1/2 a second or more. The si/ex trasmission has a slightly higher final drive. So I was wondering will I be able to get through gears quicker with a ex/si tranny? Right now lets say if I were to race some one once I shift to 2nd its over for me. Due to really long gears.

yes the si/ex tranny will help out alot...BTW just some weird info...if i were to have an hf tranny on my engine i would prolly beable to do like 110mph in 2nd... :shock: ...but on the 1-2 shift it drops to like 3700..just some info :roll:
