I recently acquired a clean 94 eg with a jdm d15 vtec swap w/ a 95 si tranny. the only bolt ons it has now is a AEM intake stock header with a 2.5" exhaust, a chipped ECU and a act clutch.

I'm gona blow some money on this thing and see how far I can get it all motor. It just seems like a b series swap is too much money..

so my plans are.. a skunk2 im, b16 tb sending to maxbore. I guess an ebay header but they all seem to be 4-2-1. I have a sohc vtec head in my garage that I need to identify that if it would fit this motor I'm sending out to get ported/milled. I need to find a cam for this setup too. Any suggestions on cams? I'm trying to not rev this thing past 8100 rpm unless it can handle it.. I'm planning on a stage 3 crower cam and probably 11:5 compression

so heres the rundown.

jdm d15b

ported/milled head 11:5 + compression
crower stage 3 cam
AEM intake
skunk2 im
ported b16 tb
ebay header with a 2.5 back exhaust
p28 w/ john vega tune

I know theres more I plan on doing..

how much power would this setup make? how far would I have to rev this motor out? and could the stock d15b bottom end handle this kind of top end?

I want 140whp + out of this car.. or 13's all motor.. its a CX hatch with weight reduction.

I LIKE,

Im currently depating weather to build My D15 aswell, mines not vtec though.
I need to watch this and see how you do with it,
Are you planning on building the bottom end at all?

GOOD Luck with the build.

I'd HIGHLY recommend putting in some ARP rod bolts are a bare minimum for this setup - rod bolts are too cheap and easily replaced to overlook. Also they are prone to failure at high rpm's.

The bad news: getting that kind of compression with that block/crank will be... complicated. Using the stock pistons, you have a ~9.3:1 compression ratio. Even if you take .050" off the head, you are only at 10.5:1.

If you are willing to swap out pistons, the 98-00 GX pistons could be used with LS rods to yield 10.8:1 without milling. Shaving .025" off the head would put you at 11.6:1. I think the LS rods with GX slugs is the best bet for this bottom end.

I just dont want to have to tear down the bottom end.. I guess I'm gona have to to get the compression I want.

I want like 150whp minimum... I think its acheivable with this setup

Hold the hell up, crower doesnt make a stage three for a non vtec car bro, wtf? Am i either confised or dead on?
First strip your cx hatch, you will see that it is pretty quick and 13's are very achievabe but theres a big difference between a 13.9 and a 13.4. <--- That like taking down mustangs and evos, stock of course.

Did you miss the part where he said "JDM D15B VTEC"?

Did you miss the part where he said there is no vtec. I think is is just not engaged. Anyway i dont think you will make much power with that cam and vtec not engaGED. It is not designed for non vtec.

is 170whp acheivable?

say with the rod bolts and the appropiate pistons?

12:1 + compression, a head that has ALOT of port work done, crower stage 3 cams, skunk2 im, ported b series TB, custom made header, whale penis intake w/ a k&n?

I dont know of any aftermarket company that makes rod bolts for the d15. And according to every company I have spoken to , they are NOT the same as the d16 rod bolt...... Although this past Friday, My stock rods and rod bolts went 7 passes with 3 hot laps and revved to 8800rpm with no issues.

I thought the JDM D15B uses Z6 rods and bolts.

Am I the only one that missed it?

He's going with a cam that will allow his head to fucking breathe, along with the intake manifold, but is buying a cheap ass, poorly designed header.

Buy a header from bisi and your numbers will definitely be close to your goals.
