I am looking to tint my car windows soon, and i need some recommendations on how dark I should go? First off, i was thinking of getting the rear windshield and the rear sides tinted, since here in cali the front cant be tinted(only 70%). I am looking to go dark, but i dont want to cut down my visibility. What percentage of tint would still let me see well in the day and at the night

wow here in PR cars are only allowed maximum 35% grade tint, darker it;s a felony... (darker it;s allowed on rear seats and rear windows)

If you're willing to risk a ticket i like 20% tint. I personally love the real dark look so im going with 5% but a lot of people dont like it that dark...

the darkest I'd go is 20% and still have good day and night visibility. Any darker and it's a pain in the ass to back up and see where you're going through the rear glass. Nothing sucks worse than it pooring down rain and having to hang your head out of the window to see where you're going when you back up.

Since i live in cali, the rear windshield, and the rear sides can be tinted as much as i want. The front windows can only be tinted by 70%, so thats nothing.

Looking for more input on how dark to go.

Your lucky then, the law in alabama states that on cars...the tint on any window cannot exceed 35%...I've already had one ticket but 35% just isn't enough for me, that freakin vinyl gets hot as hell, haha.

how bout go the legal limit. A fix it ticket is not a good way to spend money. And then have to rip the tint out on the side of the road. And then spend your money again have to get it tinted legal.

i'd agree with them 20% is fine and will still set your car off. Iv'e had 5% before and it was nice on a summer day but i looked like an idiot opening my door to back up my truck. lol

I agree go with the 20 in the rear
In va trucks can have limo tint in the ext cab section and rear glass, I have it and reversing is a bitch. Not fun backing up when you are pulling something either. Thats why I installed fog lights in the rear to brighten up more

I have tinted windows for almost 20 years. And I always tell my customers... "You are the one driving it. Whatever you like is what I will do for you."

Check out my MYSPACE profile and look at some of my work..

here where i live, if the tint isnt legal and they decide to get you on it, they bust out the ol razor and cut it up. go just a shade darker than legal and keep em on their toes

i would go 20% on the rear and 50% on the sides. kinda flows together...

So 20% seems like as far as i can go to still have no visibility problems?

Thats actually against the law.... Cops are Law Enforcement only. They are here to enforce the law. They cannot be the Judge and Jury. You can take that to court and fight that. And then turn around and make them pay for it. Do it it once and that will never happen again.

^didnt happen to me. happened to my friend. they cut his tint and all the wiring for his ricer lights. some of the cops around here are a bit... corrupt i think.

definately dont go too dark, it looks good in the daytime, but like everyone says at night its not fun at all.
