Let me start with a little introduction. I'm from Belgium, Europe. 30 years old(?):p and euh...kind of noob when it comes to engine tuning...
My project car: EDM ED4 4G4D Sedan with a D16A7.
I think the D16A7 is pratically the same as a D16A6 without a catalystic converter... Stock figures 115bhp...
Another difference: the A/F ratio is regulated by an IMA-sensor...

What do I want?
Doing some usual bolt-ons I/H/E, change the intake manifold with bigger TB and another cam.
So here are my questions:

1) I've read the D16Z6 IM is quite good. Is it simply plug and play? Or should I go for a Skunk2 or Blox manifold? (any clearance issues with these in a sedan?) I tought about fitting a B16A1 TB to it.
2) According to what I've read I should go for a Delta 272 cam. Right?
3) Can I tune the car with the IMA-sensor or what would you guys advice?

My goals: 140hp at the flywheel, daily driver and reliable.

Any advice or tips are welcome. I'm willing to listen and learn :TU:

ok, righto, D16a7 does not have anything to control the A/F ratios .. well that i could find anyway..

i had mine totally standard internals with, fidanza flywheel Skunk2 intake b18c throttle body (60mm) and 4-1 homemade crappy headers and 2 1/4 ex. and it made 90wkw tuned via SAFC .. could have probably done better with a crome tune or the likes.... and that was with around 220,000 KM on the clock and drinking oil...

if you do decide to go for skunk 2 manifold you will need to move your fuel filter and the brake bias valve..

one more thing the d16a7 has waaay smaller intake ports than the d15b (or at least the one i have)

so using my calculations i had roughly around 130-140hp at the flywheel.. give or take... on a factory block..

Is it possible to tune it with an Apexi Safc?
Or should I think about getting another ECU?

Get '90-'91 ECU, it can be tuned atleast with TurboEdit and ROM is very easily replaceable. Your ecu has ROM inside CPU, it's possible to add external ROM chip but it's some more work and I wouldn't advice it if you're not very familiar with electronics. Do not mess with piggybacks.

I also suggest you take your head out and mill it 1mm to increase compression. At the same time when head is out and disassembled, you can port it a bit, atleast open up the intake ports to accept D16Z6 (or Skunk2, Blox or other aftermarket) IM because like aazaa_EJ_NZ just said also, the ports are smaller in A7/A6 head. Get thermal shield gasket for IM too, I ordered one from eBay and it was like ~25eur shipped, cheaper than OEM.

Dbilas Dynamic in Germany makes 272/264 camshaft, cost 255eur and can be used with stock valvetrain. Check http://dbilas.de/dbilas_eng/index.htm

Yes they are, but that price includes core.
