View Full Version : Snapped valve cover bolt

Hey, I just snapped my front center valve cover bolt torquing it to 86 inch/lbs (Like the good book says) I need to drive it for a couple of days. Will it leak?

use a big screw and a piece of rubber it worked for me for a few days till i could buy a new one. It wont shoot out that much oil for daily driven.

Oh that fucking sucks. I snapped two of mine :hammer:

Got the first one fixed. The second was broken for 5 months before fixing with no leaking, so you should be good!

never broke one yet.......

10mm 1/4" drive, not gonna break much with it :)

I have had a broken VC stud for over a year now, no leaks to mention.I really should take that out.

you can use the long ass bolts that came with all pioneer cd changers

Now thats ingenuity. At least the old pioneer CD Changer has some purpose. What was it 1x oversampleing with no D/A Converters?

yeah it won't leak, you gonna have to wait a couple of days if you go get one from honda, at least i did. i think the bolt is like 3 bucks. when you order it also order a new rubber seal for the bolt and a new metal washer thing otherwise you have the great fun of trying to get them off the old bolt and it is very very difficult. ask me how i know this

Cool, I have a new Z6 Vtec valve cover on the way, I am going to paint and polish, I will post before and after pics so all of you can rub one out. It is going to be SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET, I promise you.
