I was going to sell a ecu to someone and turns out its a 88 and he said it doesn't work in other EF's??? is that true, cause I need it for something else now.

specifically, 89-91 hatches/ crx

The only thing wrong with the 88-89 PM6's is that, last I checked, you couldn't chip them. I haven't looked into it recenly since I have a '90 PM6. But, your ECU will work in any non-VTEC MPFI OBD-0 car.

ok,,some more info for the thread,

actually the later 89 pm6 ECU's can be chipped,
I believe its at the date of october & up...

so it would look like:

89.10.24

(correct me if I'm wrong)

you can easily tell if it can be chipped or not if it has the rom chip in the lower right corner, that's removed and replaced with the zif socket.

Guest, is that the one you got from my garage? it'll work in all 88-91's no problem.

'88s can in fact be chipped, but they arent as easy as '90+ ecus. and yes it will work fine in all mpfi EFs

IIRC the maps are different. If you're going to run the 88 you may see a few less ponies than the later ones.
