I've been reading this forums for a couple days, I came with 3 questions and have already found the answer to 2. My last one is as follows, what point should I shift at with a mini me swap (b7-z6). Is it safe to go to 7k rpm's?

I cant see 7k out of reach.. only being that i have a stock d16z with 285 000 kms on it.. and i rev it to rev limiter when i race people.. (not like a civic is fast anyways) but i have no trouble reving to the rev limiter which is i believe 7200 on my car. and with the kilometers on my car you would think it woulda blown by now. I wouldnt worry about it taking it to 7k just watch and dont go to high above 7

yeah but remember the red line on a d15b7 is 6300 rpm's, so i would be taking it past the limit of a b7. but since i would have a p28 ecu it would be higher, and i want to know if that is safe.

it shouldn't be a problem taking it to 7k, but i wouldn't try and do it on a daily basis. you're pretty much gonna have to go past the old rev limit of 6300 because the z6 engine doesn't make its peak power until 6500.

again 7k should be safe but i would not want to go there daily. if it were me i would not go past 6500. its not too much past the old stock rev limiter and not too too far from that of a z6.

You will be fine. I had a b7/z6 mini-me set up on my ride for 13 months and drove the piss out of it, I took it to 6800 24/7 and had know problem. Right now I switched back to a full D15b7 setup and drive it to 6800 still. So I'm pretty sure you will be fine.

Really? I took my stock B7 to 6800 before I redline ever since I've owned the car. But hey I'm in Canada and the civics are built diferent here. My car came with no govenor and I'm pretty sure they come with them in the States. Correct me if I'm wrong I just heard that from a buddy a while back.

I've ran a mini-me for about 4 yrs in my si and it worked good. as for the govenor should be there just after the redline and as for speed you will just run out of gear. 6800 and 7200 redline is very little, it is the b7 valve train that holds it back the 1.5 is a rev happy engine.

The 1.5 bottom end is way better for high revs. It has a much better rod/stroke ratio than the 1.6 blocks. This allows a somewhat free reving motor when combined with a VTEC head.

Get a cam and rev it to 8k all day long... i used to!!

shift when the power starts dropping off.

shift when the power starts dropping off.

That's really the trick, the B7 redline is lower because there simply is no reason to rev it that high. The JDM D15B, which is *nearly* identical to the setup you have, revs to like 7.5 or so.

REV THAT ENGINE TO DEATH, you can get another d15 block at a junk yard for $75 bucks, who cares if it blows!

I m running a d15b1 stock from bottom up with a ZC cam and a crome basemap ecu and i run it to 7500rpms no problems but it cuts out after and this is on a 4sp hatch

If bottom end blows (breaking rod/piston/crank) there's very high risk it will ruin head also, I wouldn't risk it.

But 7k would be fine, I took my D15B2 multiple times per day to 8k and I do the same for my Z6 too.

i have taken my stock y7 to the fuel cut a few times, with no problems. its kicks bad when you hit that fuel cut off tho. since you have a programmable ecu you may want to program to redlines a hard and a soft redline.
