Simmer down, bone's just bein' a smartass.
Seriously though, if you know a bearing is going out, I'd park the car. When I realized I had a bearing going out, I drove very little and only because I had just replaced my clutch and flywheel and was dying to break it in. :D:D

Don't know squat about tranny's. I got a tranny from someone i met on HT and was told it was all good.(stupid me i believed him) Once i had it in heard what sounds like a minor metal on metal rub. It mostly happens when i down shift. Sometimes you can hear it in acceleration. A mechanic i know says its a bearing. Which one i don't know. I'm hopeing to find another and eventually rebuild the one i have now.

I'm not even boiling, how can I simmer?
It's all in good fun.
likely input shaft bearing........
Yep.. It's usually the first to go.
When the trans is out you should not be able to wiggle the input shaft at-all
With a good input shaft bearing, the input shaft will only rotate.
I know that doesn't help you now, but good referance for the future.

At least the input shaft bearing is easy to change out. Shouldn't need any special tools (I think I drove it out with a 5/8" socket). I wouldn't put that one off too long, it takes a lot of stress. It's right next to 1st gear for pete's sake. So much sideways pressure on it from all the motor's torque, plus its pretty much the highest bearing in the case that doesn't have its oil fed through the tray/mainshaft. This means if tranny fluid isn't right up to the fill plug then it runs dry all the time and grenades. #1 reason why I always run a quarter quart extra when I fill 'er up via the speed sensor hole.
Now my 5th gear bearing that's bad, thats another story. So far I've put 25k miles on the thing since I've heard it without having it blow up. However, it tends to destroy my tranny fluid every 5k miles (it gets thin, gears grind, etc.). I really don't like changing that fluid all the time tho I'm darn good at it now!

if it is the isb you can pull the tranny and change the bearing yourself in about a day. pulling the tranny will take the most time. once the tranny is out basically pull the tranny apart drive the bearing out, drive the new one in, reassemble, and reinstall the tranny. we got a how-to stickied at the top of this section
