If you have a stock engine... zero degrees.

Maybe I'm not sure what you're asking...

No need to advance or retard cam timing unless you've decked the block or milled the head.

Honda engineers knew what they were doing. There's no need to mess with perfection ;)

You'll need to put it on a dyno to see. There is no absolute adjustment known for each and every combination of parts/modifications.

Yup Yup. .Don't really need to start messing with that till you start modding the engine a lot more. I believe with regular bolt ons, you will not need to advance or retard the timing. . . . .

I recommend sifting through the forums and reading all cam gear posts to get a better idea of WHY you would adjust cam timing. I think the only set-in-stone rule applies to decking the head or milling the block.

hey yeah....well for the stock motor advance it 2 degree....and check for knock please....travel in 3 rd gear at low rpm and check for the knock..if u dun get it...give it a run ...and if ur at higher compression retard it 5 degrees if u hear a knock retard it 7 degreess and voila...

^ dont mess with it till you get a cam or a reason to adjust timing in general, the whole set it and see what happends makes me wanna smack people. dont mess with something unless you have a reason to change it. people always look for free power but you sacrifice your motor in that search. get a cam and adjustable cam gear and put it on a dyno. search to see what most people have done with the cam that = yours. and then see where you go from there.

I'm going to back up cory jordan on this one...

Just because you "successfully" guessed on your mechanical timing, doesn't mean you did it right...

Well, that's the point...

How do you know that you gained horsepower? Just because it feels faster, doesn't mean that it is.

And you don't care if you're destroying your engine? :-?

im saying you didnt make horsepower..all you did is move the powerband...by advancing your cam timing you eliminate top end HP

ohhk ...thnx thnx for info brother...and yes ummm am i right dat by altering the powerband ratio ....iam playing with the engine power so basically iam reducing the engine life by putting load on it at the lower end?

no as for whoever said you ruining your engine...you are not..but you implied that you dont care if you hurt your engine as long as you are making more power...most people dont get camgears, unless they get a cam, or mill their head...and when you have a cam,,,at most you get maybe 2 hp. on a b series you can tune and acheive greater results with a set of camgears....

Powerband ratio?

If you adjust your timing the right way, it won't destroy your engine (I think). If you fuck up your timing to the point in which you encounter preignition/detonation, then you can destroy your engine.
