This is something that I did on the GameFaqs forums about a year or so ago. The response was excellent and it ended up being a lot of fun. The Challenge is based on driver skill as well as car building ability. I call it the "Budget Building Triathlon Challenge". The name is somewhat cheesy I know. The basic premise is that I post a set of parameters, typically something along the lines of:
FF
4 Cyl
No Nitrous
No Turbo/Supercharger
Must be from a NEW Showroom
Spend no more than $50,000
So you would then pick a car that fit that description and purchase it. You would then spend the remainder of the $50k on modifications not specifically banned. Each Challenge would be different. Each Challenger could potentially have a different car, which adds to the excitement.
After the car options are posted I will post a pair of tracks.
You will then run the 2 Tracks as well as the Drag Strip and post your best times for each, I will provide a form for reporting. If you would like to back up your numbers with screen shots that is entirely up to you, the honor system worked before and no one would really benefit from cheating.
After the times have been submitted I will rank everyone and determine the winner of that challenge. Track times are weighted heavier than the drag strip to put a slight emphasis on driver skill.
Post up if you're interested and if you have any questions or suggestions.
Once I get 6 or 8 people interested I will come up with the first challenge. Most challenges will be open for a week or so, sometimes we will do more in depth challenges that will be open longer. You are encouraged to be as creative as you would like, I typically use my real life company name and explain what I chose to do to the car and why as opposed to a simple list, which is all that is required.
Thanks for reading.
