I had an Exedy stage 1 in my last civic and now it's time to get a clutch for the new one. My question is with a 11lb flywheel, cam, ZEX 50 shot, and all the bolt ons, which clutch is better quality Exedy or ACT.
Thanks

For a stage 1 (exedy organic racing vs. act hdss), I don't think that it really matters. I was researching clutches a while back and an ACT representative had some very good things to say about the exedy d-series clutch. I ended up purchasing an exedy organic racing w/act streetlite flywheel.

I liked my exedy, but I've never driven an ACT. Just wondering if I was missing anything
Thanks for the help

I drove the shit out of my ACT hd-ss that was in my zc and it lasted for about 2 years. I have been through 2 exedy clutches b4 that in a 2 year period of time. IMO exedy is crap but thats what you get when you buy a 100 dollar clutch compared to a 300 dollar one.

No... Thats what you get when you don't pay attention to what you are buying. The $100 exedy clutch is an oem replacement. You can't compare it to any ACT as they are all stage 1+ upgrades. The exedy organic racing clutch is a stage 1 upgrade and costs about the same as the act hdss.
Also, exedy is the race division of daikin. Daikin makes the stock clutch on most import vehicles.
I've never heard a single complaint about an exedy clutch from anyone who actually knew what they were buying.

the stock Honda unit will do just fine.
Really, 13.27 on 75 shot via ZEX on slicks, 7000+ rpm launch......
Stock clutch and tranny............really lucky I guess :)

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm gonna go with the EXEDY I had good luck with the last one and hopefully this will be good too.

Exedy Organic clutch here with the act prolite flywheel. Don't know anything about the act, but the exedy is a nice piece. No problems here. I've had it about 6 months and it's been beaten to death, still holding strong. Wish I could say the same for my second tranny :(
