Thank you for correcting your copied Quaife design errors.
OEM shims are now used, ring gear bolts no long rub on the case.
Y8 tranny I'm building, OEM diff with bearings was 122.9mm wide, the OBX was 122.75mm, about .006" narrower, PERFECT to allow for heat expansion. No longer a need for B16 oil control rings as shims, glad I didn't invest the $4,000 to have shims made :)

I'm guessing mine wasn't the newest revision then because I had to grind down all the ring gear bolts.

Lucky!
Tristan's was the old style! I had to destroy one of my sockets to tighten the ring gear bolts!

I was just looking at the socket I ground down. Still surprised it didn't crack, it's so thin.

i didn't have a prob with the ring gear bolts. i just rested the socket on the bolt, and gave it a quick tap with a hammer and it seated on the bolt. the bolt didn't touch the housing either. However the B oil ring was a perfect clearance. Maybe it was in the middle of being fixed?

Unfortunately mine was of the old design. B ring needed, ring gear bolts touch the housing and LSD bolts seats higher than the housing.
Transzex, would you mind posting a pic of the new version?

i think OBX should pay you $4000.
imagine how many more LSD's theyre going to sell now that someone with in depth knowledge of tranny's actually backs them. word spreads quickly on the internet...

that last pic, don't remember that stamp on the other OBX's I've installed, but never looked.
22-9-2006, aka Sept 22 2006 production date?
DirtyDC4
05-19-2007, 01:53 PM
9200 is the part number, so the 2292006 is probably the date.
Mine didn't have that.
Not mine either. Must be a new thing they have started doing, with their 3rd revision.
I bought mine late last year, but only got rev.2 unfortunately... Well well, it still works.

Tuning Depot on ebay.
Hracing1234 also has them for $362 shipped, but also selling them for $350 shipped on HondaTech. I'm gonna ask him to open on and look to see if it has the newer stamp.

sweet good to know. I still maintain the fact that im happy with my ver. 2 obx. I knew all i had to do was use b16 oil ring and not have to measure, go buy shim, measure...
my bolts went in fine thugh, and the socket fit fine too...

Yeah, proper shimming gonna take longer.......
The seller on H-T says the ones he has are the new ones. But he hasnt posted up any pics.
I messaged Hracing on eBay two times about it and have not received a reply yet.
Im itching to buy but Im waiting for confirmation from the cheaper priced vendors.

Due to the sellers lack of effort, I'll continue buying from Tuning Depot.

I agree with you there.. Its only a $28 difference to buy from tuningdepot. It could be worse, I could be paying $900 for a Quaife, I guess. :)

That guy on H-T is a joke. How hard could it be to open a box and take a pic, then post it up on the forum.
He wont stay in business long if his customer service doesnt improve. Maybe his are the old style an hes trying not to let the cat out of the bag. Needs a few unsuspecting customers to buy up his old stock so he can get some new ones.
Who knows, but I no longer care.. I just put in an order to Tuning Depot on eBay, his loss.

Looks that seller finally put up a pic of the stamp. Took him a while but at least he finally came through with the pic.
I didnt get to buy from him, but either way, im glad my LSD is on its way here. Looks like I may get to have some fun finally assembling my hybrid/lsd tranny Monday night.. :)
