I am trying to clean up my engine bay. I want to remove my cruise control crap, but am uncertain if there could be any electrical complications with the computer or not. Advise ASAP please.

yeah same exact thing. go to autozone or discount and get vacume plugs. first unbolt your cruise control module(the big POS in your engine bay) and disconect your electical plug and vacume lines.

the thick line that comes off the cruise module just yank it firmly and it will pop off. now diconnect the small hoses that you will follow all the way to your TB and the little black canister in the middle of the 2 lines you can also get rid of by unclipping it .

I found the vacuum nipple on the bottom of the intake manifold. I can plug that. As far as taking the actual Cruise Control POS out thats no problem, but how do you get the damn cable out. Did you disconnect it from the pedal? What about the brake moduel on the brake pedal, do you do anything with that?

Did it make your car run weird at all? Were there any advers effects to the computer?

just cut the wire that goes to the throttle pedal as close as possibel to the actual pedal and no there where no adverse afects to the comuter the only thing you might have to do is adjust your throttle cable that sits on top of the IM because there is less stress on the line therefor it might be to tight.

the brake module u can also leave there it does nothing after the POS is removed.

OK, the main actuater is out. I plugged the vacuum nipple at the lower rear of the IM. There is also a 3/8 inch hose that was connected to the actuater that goes towards the headlight. Where the hell does it go? Also I want to take the washer fluid resevoir out. I can access the top 10mm bolt but cant find anymore. Did you take that out also?

the hose that goes towards the head light just pull on it firmly and it will come out trust me it serves no purpose. and no i left my washer tank in because its florida and there is always bugs on the freeway that my winshield takes a liking to lol.

Yes it matters... What if someone is looking for the answer to the same exact question but only looks in the general tech section (which, BTW, the description of GT says "Any tech questions you might have that don't quite fit in another category can go here.")?? They wont find this one.

Why have sections if it doesn't matter? :TD:

GENERAL TECH forum is appropiate, you're in the wrong section, you'll be more blamed then helped in this "showcase" thread.

I reccomend you guys to read the forum rules.

The reason I chose "Showcase" is cause that is were I found the initial info on engine bays. I have searched various posts and have found nothing but a bunch of people showing off thier engine bays, no technical info. I checked all areas. This is my first , whatever this is. I have read some of the threads and they are very informative, but if this is going to be like the Gustopo, maybe Im in the wrong place. I am covered in grease needing info from my SOHC brothers and I am getting shit. Sorry I posted my godamn question in the wrong forum.

You are right. showcase = area to SHOWCASE your car.

And why are you "covered in grease" while you are just taking out a cruise control unit?? :noway:

Just my hands were a little grimey, I am puss and hate to get dirty so any spec of dirt and it is a catastrophe, plus my engine bay has not been cleaned since NOPI nats in Atlanta last year. She is under construction. I have the whole front off, putting a new bumper cover, fenders headlights and hood on, so I am trying to tidy up that nasty engine bay to look as sexy as some of the ones I have seen on this site. I just need more money, I keep running out of that shit.

Well wish me luck, and sorry for posting in the wrong area, I swear this is the first place I have ever posted so I am a definite NOOB at this. I will work on my navigation.

I just need more money, I keep running out of that shit. Damn... with the way some of the cars look on here, I was beginning to believe I was the only one with this problem.
