Well a few days ago I got my first honda. Ive never followed imports ,but the only import I would drive was a honda so I got one. I am use to working on mustangs 67-71 years and Ive been helping my dad do complete rebuilds we've probably done about 5 or 6 in the past years. He gave me a honda and told me to play with it to see what I can get out of it. I have a 93' EX with a d16z6 I have a few questions regarding my car. Is the block worth investing on? Money really isnt an Issue but I dont wanna pour money into something that isnt worth it. Next, It is automatic if I am going to be keeping the block how do I go about getting the parts for the conversion to manual and are there any trannys that I can get besides the stock one? Ive looked on ebay for trannys to this block but found nothing and I dont know where to get honda parts, I even tried google and came up empty handed. Sorry for my long rant its just I wanna start this is basically my project car and Im a little excited to begin.

BTW I read the NOOB sticky and it didnt seem to yield as much information as I thought If this thread is against some rules just delete it and I guess ill go about finding this stuff my own way

that block is worth it, but the best power is gonna come from boosting.

once you have 65 posts, you will be able to access the Sale threads and you should be able to finda suitable tranny/parts there

Ok I am planning on going turbo, Im also Planning on doing a complete rebuild of the engine just modified ofcourse. Where is this blocking topping off in terms of horsepower whats most I can squeeze out of it? I am Planning on dropping In a few thousand dollars just into the engine so I want to know what I can expect.

lol, well since it seems like you've got a good amount of green to throw into the build, you're gonna be happy with the results, but as far as how much power can be seen, its all in how you build it and how good you tune it, i think the biggest numbers ive seen from a boosted SOHC is around 500 or a little more

The next month or so is simply fixing the problems it came with really no upgrades unless I need to buy a new part. It has some pits of rust on the rrof really small so Im taking care of that Im guessin its gonna be around 600 tops. Theres a small oil leak I cant seam to find I just cleaned the engine to see whats up

You're probably going to want to update your connecting rods, since the rods in d16z6's aren't good for over 200hp. Everything I've read says shotpeen the stock one's and cryogenically treat them, or go aftermarket...

Besides ebay where can I go for some after market parts online

once you have 65 posts, you can find some good stuff in the for sale section on the forum, good stuff that may be used, but is still in perfect condition, and a lot cheaper than you'll find on most company websites

Welcome. You're going to be very happy with a Honda. With that kind of dough, you'll be able to get some good numbers. Power to weight!

I cleaned the entire engine yesterday So I can see where the oil leak is coming from. When I woke up this morning I went to go check and it seems to be leaking from the distributor. I dont want to take it apart before I get gaskets and sealent. Instead of honda bond can I use the copper gasket sealer they have at discount auto parts?

Just get another O ring for you distributer. It's easy to change. You can pick that up anywhere.

Oh its just an o-ring? Would you recomend lubing the oring before installing it? If so how would DOW-33 or 55 work those were my favorite lubricants for o-rings

yea im sure it wouldnt matter if you use some lubbing or not. it just get there either way.
but im looking forward for your results.
that much cash, good build, and great tuning should have amazing results.
