So I picked up a D15B7 block and head. Planning on building it up to replace my getting tired, oil burning d15B7 in my 95' civic. I was wondering If some one could maybe suggest some things like rods, stock or crower? If I should go all motor and what I would expect or should I turbo and if so what things/problems could I run into. Or should I do a mini-me...
I've searched and read some stuff on the mini-me (seems like a fair amount of work) replacing the ecu and such.
must say gasket kits from honda are $$$ but I would only go oem on that stuff.
If I went with a mini-me with I/H/E whata could I expect for HP, 120-130?? Has anyone gone with a non stock cam on thier mini-me.
I'm planning on keeping the D15B7 stock pistons.
Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

D15B7 with D16A6 pistons and D15Z1 rods.
CRX Si cam or Exospeed SR909, adjustable cam gear, Z6 intake manifold.
Should belt out 140-145 hp with stock cam, 150-155 with exospeed cam.
That equates to 122-126 whp and 130-134 whp.
This is non VTEC and just simple port matching, add another 8-10 hp with a properly ported head.
Simple ain't it?

one again mista your post is awesome. :)
Thats using a factory D15B7 head gasket? and there is no problems with the pistons fitting the rods or do you have to do some funky work to them?
Thanks

Will the Z1 rods fit in the cottom end without modifying the crank? What about lenth? will it hit the valves? Do you have to use the A6 pistons? Sorry to poat on your thread but I have been wondering about this to..I have been building the b7 myself.

So I phone local honda dealer on prices.
D16A6 pistons $85.16CAD ea.
.25 oversize $85.16CAD ea.
D15Z1 rods $134.21CAD ea.
Int Valves $28CAD ea.
Exh Valves $50CAD ea.
Upper Gasket kit $320CAD
Lower Gasket kit $104CAD
wow! I was wondering would it be wise to source out some used rods and pistons from a low milage engine?
The intake valves look ok, the exhaust had alot of carbon buildup. After cleaning them up the contact surface still looks a little rough. Maybe get them resurfaced??
If anyone knows of a online store that sells for less the the above prices please let me know.
Thanks

Wow, I didn't know that that setup would make that much power. Now I really can't wait to get my mini me done! As far as getting new parts, just look online for used parts, you can pick up used a6 pistons for rather cheap.

cool, thanks.
I've also been pondering the mini-me. Question to all that have done the mini-me. Are you happy and satisfied with the performance and such with the mini-me swap. Is it a very noticable difference.
I'm wondering cause I have a colt cam regrind in my d15b7 specs:
INT 264 w/.387l
EXH 264 w/.371l
What is this cam comparable to?
I guess I should go drive a vtec equipped car to see.
Thanks

D15B7 with D16A6 pistons and D15Z1 rods.
Simple ain't it?
does this work... the z1 rods are 137mm as opposed to the b7 134mm rods, and the b7 pistons have a 30.70mm compression height, and the a6 pistons a 30.00mm compression height, so wouldnt that mean the pistons are now sitting 2.3mm higher in the cylinders?? is that allowable for valve clearance with the stock cam?? the sr909 cam??

yea, I'm holding off till I find out about clearances.
