View Full Version : Fucked up Compression Test

So I drove to my buddy’s house to do a compression check.
Came back (1 – 184) (2 – 184) (3 – 195) (4 – 191)
Anyway… somehow the adaptor for the compressor came off of the compression gauge checking (pos) and got stock in piston 1…. We screwed it down by hand using the hose. Tested it, and then unscrewed it and moved onto the other ones. Only after the engine cooled down a lot, we realized the adapter never came out of the engine.
The engine cooled down on the adapter making it so we couldn’t get it out. So pretty much fucked, we put some lock tight on the hose, screwed it back onto the adapter and put some lock tight on it… then nothing happened. Now the hose is just spinning, we shot some pb blaster down there, still nothing.
No way to get to the bare metal of the adapter, I can rip out the hose but don’t know what good that will do me.
Basically I’m just trying to figure out if there is any possible way to get it unscrewed without having to take the head off.

Torch it somehow to heat it back up?

If i heat up the adapter with a heat gun.... would the adapter just swell up and make it even tighter? or do you think it will break lose more?

What engine is this on?

Yeah, I'd take the valve cover off, and then grab it with something.
You threaded it by hand.. you should be able to get it off with some tools, if you can get them down there.

what i do is take a flat and hammer that fucker in and turn. never should've used the adapter in the first place. learned the hard way.

its a y7 engine, yeah but now the freakin hose is in there bc we lock tighted that into the adapter to get it out, b/c it was just unscrewing every time... damn it lol. i might go to sears or something and see if i can get anything.

So now the hose is locktighted to the adapter and you still can't get it out?

take off valve cover, remove spark plug tube...
remove adapter, put tube back in, valve cover back on, tighten, reinstall spark plugs, put wires in proper place, test fire...
then come back inside, and thank me and send me a blunt....:TU:

I thought the spark plug tubes were part of the casting?

They're pressed in on the Z6. I'm sure of that.

try hammering a screwdriver into the hole of that adapter, just make sure it's nice and tight before turning. this has happened to me before, so after i got the adapter out, i just cut a slit in it with a dremel for easier removal later on.

Is it safe to warm the engine up with only 3 cylinder going? Hoping warming it up might losen it. Or would it hurt my engine?
