Ok...So I am having an unusual problem , I recently did a timing belt car runs and idles fine no problems there. I do although loose alot of power when I either floor it , or heading up hills I loose any speed and momentum that I have gained, usually by at least 10mph or more. The only way I can get up the hills is by downshifting to a lower gear so that its at a higher rpm range which allows me to get up the hills barely.I never had this problem, timing is on the mark by the way.

Did you use any caustic chemicals when you were working on it?? If so you may have accidently killed 2 of the 4 squirrels that power your engine.. j/k!

If not, check the timing. The cam may have been a tooth off before you started working on it and someone could have moved the dizzy to keep the car running. Double check your cam timing too! Plug wires loose?

You're absolutely sure both your valve and ignition timing are set correctly?

I JUST had the same problem. Ended up the car was so low on gas that I THOUGHT the timing was wrong most of the time. 4 gallons later, it worked. It's still weaker, but I'm adjusting it again in the morning. You're probably just a little bit off. Working with the timing belt is interesting. When you release the tensioner pulley, make sure the belt doesn't skip a tooth on the crankshaft gear if you have the belt off of the cam gear. This can mess you all up. What I do is take a permanent marker and make a small mark on one of the teeth on the timing belt and then on the cam gear. Then I move it one tooth to the side, and try it again. If that doesn't work, make new marks and move on.
