Im pretty stock d16y8, with the standard I/H/E. At what point do you need a PCV catch can?

I know the OEM pcv system sucks, but on a daily driver, its probably better to just have the OEM system without a catch can? I know my catch can adds alot of resistance to venting out vapors. So its harder to vent crankcase pressures because of the added vac lines and restrictions.

Would it be better just to have an open system? just venting from the back of the block, and from the valve cover too? (2 front ports)

if u run a catch can its better for ure motor as far as running cleaner air, but u have to use crankcase pressure to vent the vapor. now if u had it like stock(ie. closed system) u use vacume to vent the vapor but it also dirtys up the air and everything else. since i dont have emmisions here in oklahoma i run it open just for the fact of ive seen far less carbon in my runners then if i usd a closed system.

how about ring lands though? wont this F up your internals because not enough pressure is being pulled? i know for FI most people do this, but i heard you need to have a constant vac for a NA engine. I do not have emissions here, just want the most reliable efficient setup.
