I was just looking on the DC Sports web site and I see that there is a 4-2-1 1piece header and a 4-2-1 2 piece header what is the difference.

Thank you:

"One Piece"
Less flow restriction and one less flange to deal with.

One of the biggest keys to power is exhaust flow.

When I used 4-1 1-piece header on my CRX I had to drop the front crossmember to put it in. If it was a 2-piece I could of just installed on part from the top and one from the bottem. I don't know if the 4-2-1 is the same way, but just a FYI for you guys with a CRX.

Yeah everyone here is using the 4-1 one piece, or almost anyone. It makes great top end power, nothing like smsp though. The nice thing about DC is that they give you o2 extenders.

Sorry I worded that wrong, I didn't have to permanently remove it. I just had to drop it while installing the header. I'm not sure the official name for it, it's just a beam that goes across the car under the front bumper. I hope I make some sense...

Some 4-1 1 piece headers wont work in EF chassis, they hit the front crossmember. I had to switch to a traction bar to get my 4-1 header to fit.

Yea, biggest problem designing/building my 4-1 was to get it fit into my ED-body (=EF and EC).. But got it fit pretty nicely in the end. It's very difficult to remove/install when engine is in the car, but It's doable..

Get a traction bar, even if it doesnt help traction it gives you so much more room.

really. so it seems that the dc 4-1 for 92-00 civics that i ordered might not fit in my 91 hb civic. Would cutting a bit of the crossmember to clear be safe?

or rather than do all that...what exact traction bar did you buy?

seeming as u are in canada might want to look into the traction bar made by the company near toronto ( i forget their name off hand) ...other than that i had an innovative mount crossmember in my 91 crx and had no complaints about it

after searching I found one user suggested ETD racing http://etdracing.com/8891.html and theyre from Canada.

After reading up on their website im sold. First off there would be reduced wheel hop, secondly my dc 4-1 header should fit without issue as there would be more room, AND the best part of all- they claim that in the end there will be a savings of over 20lbs in weight from the stock unit.

So will any of the D-series ones bolt onto a JDM D-15 SOHV VTEC motor. In a EG HAtch

I had the same problem.

I have a DC 4-1 in my 91 hatch. You just need to unbolt and move the crossmember when installing it.

Even if it ends up hitting, notch the crossmember a bit for it to fit. Guys with B-Series in EF's do it all the time. You HAVE to if you want to fit a 4-1 in an EF with a B-Series.

The 1-peice is most likely a little faster, but I prefer the convenience of the 2-peice for working on the car.

biggest difference is location of o2 sensor... but on a 4-1 i believe they are all located at the collector

hmmm... so the crossmember is the large one beam that cross on the bottom of engine , right ?
but if i want to use 4-1 long header, can i take off that beam ?and then plug again easily ?

because i have not find 4-1 header which is 2 piece

oh yeah, where i can buy n shipping smsp header or bisimoto to my country, indoesia

Yes thats the one. Just try to install the 4-1 header and mark with chalk a small area on the crossmember that will need to have material removed and modify from there..thats what ill have to do as i just got my header

is it safe for the rigidity of chassis if we do that ?

or are there any other ways beside that

it seems that it will def weaken the function of the crossmember but I would assume taking a minor amount off wont be the end of the world.

You'd have to plate patch smartly (the portion which you removed). Use a tig or a mig if possible so you dont stress out the rest of the surrounding metal. Then seal the whole thing off with panel paint to avoid potential corrosion. Left poorly treated, that place gets forgotten / neglected after some time and you might not be aware if rust has eaten away some.
