ok i have my motor and i need to know does the zc or z6 motor come from the factory with a metal headgasket like the y8? also what compression are these zc motors? i took a plug out to see what shape it was in and when i looked down the hole the top of the piston has some little circle on it and looked like it did have a dish on it. from what i peaked at it didn't look like a U.S. spec z6 piston. i just bought a turbo kit for this motor and i'd like to know that it has the metal headgasket on and hopefully not too high of compression.

take the head apart...then you'll know what pistons you have and what kind of gasket you have as well...

then you can let us know what pistons and gasket the sohc zc vtec has as well

sohc vtec zc motor is the same as a us non vtec a6? where did you get this from? i would like to see a web site that has all the specs for honda's jdm motors.

i think he must have meant the sohc NON vtec zc is the same as the a6...which is why i'm thinking the sohc VTEC zc is the same as the z6...

but i'm still saying, rip that head off that b*tch and let us know!

well i'm not going to pull the head right now cause it has the metal head gasket on it. i'm sure after i put the turbo on that i will be buying a thicker head gasket. but i'm still saying that i pulled the #1 cylender plug and there was some sort of raised spot on the top of the piston that was in the cast or something. from what i could see it was nothing like pistons in my z6. and even though i know that the head has a dome and the piston is "supossed" to have a dish, the piston did look really close to the head. maybe they are flat top pistons? maybe they are the same pistons that are in the d15b that gives that motor 9.6:1 compression. one of these days the head will come off.

All the VTEC engines that I've seen come in with Metal HG
the NON VTEC with the composite type
