smoke or smelly steam?
maybe one of your coolant lines ruptured

If it smelt like antifreeze it is probly a leak in coolant lines like makku said.
If it smells like BURNT then I would try looking for a bare wire thats arcing on something....

It's something to do with the heater because the blower no longer works...

PS> ...and it was smoke...not steam...it stank! It was a nice trip home from work with no heat and freezing rain...

Well then I would check for a wire thats been arcing on bare metal, you prolly had a bare wire, it arced and shorted out your fan.

Thanks 92hatchman...that is greatly appreciated. Odds are the fuse is shot as well eh? Bare with me...myself+electrical=d-u-m-b
This would be under the dash somewhere? Do I have to replace the fan? or just the fuse? Sorry for the stupid questions...

Pull out the glovebox over in that area. You fried the resistor and the Blower motor. The smoking and smell you smelt was the magnets burning off in the blower motor. 58bux from any import distributer 70 from Autozone/Advanced.
