I Just Got an Estimate.........PICS!

So i'm getting my car fixed soon and i just got my first estimate...

Guy quoted me $2500 for everything. 2 new quarter panels, fix the driver's side door, basically a complete respray, mouldings and mirrors too.

I told him to leave the hood alone cause i'm getting a cf one.

Personally i expected a way higher estimate than what he gave me. I also know this guy does amazing work. He just did my buddies 84 monte carlo ss and it looked awsome! Ton's of metal work went into it! Plus he only charged him $1800 cause he knows the guys son.

What do you guys think?

:TU: quarter panels arent cheap. i got quoted $1200 to get mine replaced with a new one and resprayed...

how good can this guy paint?

also, make sure for that price hes spraying base/clear and not a single stage paint.

If its the whole car being resprayed I'd say its a good price as long as his work is good.

i would hope its the whole car....i know when the body shop fixed my quarter panel , they painted the entire side of the car so it would match.

IMO, thats how it should be done. I understand that they are only obligated to fix whats damaged....but i like the fact that my body man cares about how the finished product looks.

but your estimate sounds like its prolly legit....it should look GOOD when its done. be sure to post pics of the after.....weve already got the before!! :TU:

i bet your freaking excited arent you. i was freakin out when my car was getting fixed because i knew it was gonna look like a whole new car when i got it back. except when i got mine fixed, i got my windows tinited, i got all the dents popped out, i got a cf hood, and it got resprayed and the rust was touched up......mine was pretty much a whole new car.

yepp...only reason mine got touched up is because the person who owns the body shop is a family friend.

most people wont touch rust because it is NEVER a guarantee that its gone.

i wanted to get my car repainted ... they guy at the shop quoted me 3g ... i was like wtf ?

he said it was a factory coat though ... im still saving though ... good luck man im sure you'll love it even more

IMO, thats how it should be done.

If the paint guy's any good all he has to do is paint from the nearest body line. It's hard to match exact colors, but unless its real far off then theres no need to paint the whole side.

single is mixin the paint and the clear together. base coat clear coat turns out MUCH better and you are able to wet sand and buff it as well

single stage isnt base/clear mixed together.

Single stage is just a cheap shiny paint usually arcylic enamel or urethane.

Base/clear is a two step process and looks much better with metalics.

make sure he gives you some kind of a waranty.
I know a guy who had his quarter panels fixed... it looked like new, but after the first winter, it was all rust again.

as it sits, no a/c and i need to replace the master cylinder....it has a slow leak... other than that i have the fiberglass front bumper, and it has 17'' gunmetal kaos wheels.....and the neuspeed bar isnt there any more.....
