I'm sure every d-series member has played with the Zeal AutoWerks Compression Calculator(and how HP calculator) at some point.

I was fooling with the HP calculator today when I had a brainfart; They always include boost with calculations but have never added an option for the folks who spray.

Granted the ET 1/4 mile time is pretty cool (if you add your car's weight in the section of the equasion), is there any idea on it's accuracy? As with any type of educated guess, I/we know there is a certin margin of error to take in to account.

I'll use my car for an example. 88 CRX with d15z6 mini-me setup.

Displacement: 1493.39cc
Head Design: SOHC VTEC
Head Porting: Stock Cast
Peak HP RPM: 7200RPM (I put this because I dunno what typical power drop off with a VTEC motor is...feel free to clue me in you know)

Elevation and boost will be irrealvent for the moment; For the sake of shit we'll just say we're at sea level

Vehicle weight (with driver): 2158 (I haven't had my car weighed before since I just got it so I'll just throw that guesstimate out there)

Results:
Crank HP: 127.33
Wheel HP: 108.23
1/4 Mile ET:15.80

That sounds about right motor wise. I know the 1/4 ET has a shit-ton of factors in it.

I have yet to run the car at the track since it's being built atm.

Would you say that's close? Yes? No? Why or why not. How would the 1/4 mile ET get changed if you threw a 50-shot of spray on there?

Discuss :TU:

15.80 would be slow on 108 whp, more like 15.30-15.35 with proper gearing and traction. 50 shot would put you right at 14.0......

This is from MY car......D15 with 118 whp going 15.08, D16Z6 with 125 whp going 14.85 NA and 13.97 on 55 shot.

2300 lbs with driver, 600 ft, corrected to 1400 ft due to weather.

Unless you include DA, not just altitude, the correction is never accurate.

One night we saw 500 feet below seal level DA, perfect conidtions. alot of people set new personal bests. Someone paid the local track owner to MAKE DAMNED SURE VHT was used, ALOT!

That may be true as well, I also figure they don't take in to account most of the standard mods most N/A guys have (i/h/e) that might add a few ponys as well.

Also Mista Bone, what size of rim and type of rubber did you make your 15.08 run on?
I was thinking about running 13" steelies with a Sumitomo summer tread/compund.

20x8x14 MT slicks, only way to go!!!!!!

The 6" wide slicks don't have enough traction for my launches.

My Z6 that 14.85 NA on 8" slicks also did 15.0x on 175/50/13 Yok stickies. The Sumi's aren't that sticky.

I cut 2.01/ 2.02 60' on my 205 60 13 M&H DOT's on airport tracks where the cheap cunt that runs its puts traction compound down once!

I'd hate to carry an extra set of wheels to the track just for slicks. Lookin for that fun DD car but something that can perform well at the track as well.

Def throw up a link for your 175/50/13 Yoko's

two freaking wheels with rubber in the back of a spacious Honda, what are you crying about?

There are whiney wannabes who make excuses and their are those who goto the track to race.

I ran 155/80/13's on the street WITH ZEX, still would walk cars before the ZEX would hit.

Driver is #1, learn that.

amen to that

True, driving isn't an issue :) 10.5:1ish CR is gonna be fun with a little spray. Gotta get a wideband to tune it for spray.

Currently there's nothing in the back of the car to put anything in. Need to put a piece of plywood down to throw shit on top of.

I could also use 14" steelies since I have a few of those layin around too

yup.. i went 15.15 on a 92 cx hatch d16z6 swap intake exhaust chipped-not tuned ecu on 185-70-13 negotiator tires (cheap 25 dolalrs a tire)

its all the driver.. even tho i have played around with zealautowerks calculators.. its pretty cool
