alright guys you people seem honest enough , im torn i wana throw a single stick vtec in my 93 dx but i have 2 motors in front of me one is a roughly 70k mile d16y8 swap out of a wrecked ex my buddy has it just needs to be converted to obd1 the other is a 163k mile mini me d15 with a d16z6 head on it with a d16 tranny not sure of the status of either the d18y8 he wants 350 for the whole swap where as the mini me want 300 for basicaly everything to put it in my car minus wireing vtec idk i really want the y8 ciz of the low miles let me hear what u think :confused:

You could go the d15b with z6 head for the mini me swap then throw a y8 manifold on there.

so do the d15 anyways then the z6 on it with a y8 manifold replace all gaskets and what not,do a basic tune up and you will be set.

i would go y8,then boost the guts out of that basterd :)

but you want something reliable so dont take my advice :)

well ive decided to do my own mini me swap i have 85% of the stuff to do the head swap like z6 head, p28 ecu , obd1 gsr tb, y8 mani , wire harness all i need is z6 head gasket timeing belt and dizzy but i work at napa auto parts so i can get them on the cheep ive just been dragin my feet on it for one tis winter and cold as hell and i have 253xxx k on the odey but that motor pulls stron for that many miles so i think im just gona do it till she dies or my lsvtec is done whatever comes first :skull:

sounds to me like the timing is off on the cam gear,check your timing and see if it is right.

I'd say fix up the mini-me, or if you don't want to wrench on it, take the y8.

you can try to not thread jack and start your own thread. prolly get 10x as many solutions
