SOHC. The DOHC ZC is a great motor, but theres so much more support for the SOHCs (z6, y8, a6, etc) and I think you can't interchange as many parts to the ZC from other engines, whereas you can swap all kinds of parts between the SOHCs. Might be wrong about that tho.

I dont know about any of you but I would rather have D's than B's..... More fun too.

ok guys.
the rsn i ask is , cause i've a crx and i'm goin to do a d16 swap.
it has come with a d15 engine and on most of the forums i read that the d15's not compatible engines are.
thus by no means a performance engine.

No performance???? So the Bisimoto d15 powered crx had no performance??? It ran a high 9 second 1/4 mile before he went to the F motor.... I like the d15 better. IMO its reves quicker than the d16. But both of them are great motors to build from.

I guess it would be an ok idea to have 2 cams..... Just incase one breaks you have a spare...

whats the best d-serie engine.
the dohc or the sohc

This is a very broadsweeping question.
First of all, what do you mean by "best":
Best HP?
Best MPG?
Best $$$?
Best aftermarket support?
Best tuneability?
Best for boost?
Best smelling?

The point is, you should know what your goals and budget are before deciding on a motor.

im dohc right now but i have love for the sohc still, so i say sohc... :)

this dohc motor i have just seam's to be heavy, i really like the way it pull's and sounds but i know you can get alot of power from a boosted sohc... i might build my y8 and throw it back in one day...:alky:

Wow a motor that does nothing until you've reached 5000 rpms. Wow.

why would you hate ona 500 hp d?

The_Acid_Beaver
03-08-2007, 02:58 PM
It's cool, but that's not going to be a car I'd like to drive with a peak like that. A lot of us here like to have a broader torque output than what is exhibited in that dyno chart.

carby
03-08-2007, 04:02 PM
Just not something I would enjoy driving every day :) I plan on sizing my turbo so I have power everywhere and not just at the top. a 500hp car may sell but if it's all up top who will enjoy driving it?
