Not really that great. It's CD-quality. If you want good radio go with satellite because you still have to listen to commercials on hd radio.

^^^ good point, but on the other hand, HD radio is free, but sirius or xm aren't. I love my sirius, but even though it's commercial free and there's an assload of channels, there's still nothing ever on

I'll be going with the JVC unit likely, was $175 from Crutchfield. Also plays mp3s.......or I'm gonna find something that accepts USB jump drives.

Get an iPod hook up like the alpine units have. You will be much happier with it than any radio station. I have an iPod hook up in my car and I don't even have the antena hooked up because I never use it. No commercials and hundreds of songs you know you like.

this is the route im going. i have a 9853 and until i got it, i was an ipod hater. now it seems i HAVE to get one purely for functionality and aftermarket support. iirc kenwood offered HD tuners in their radios a few years ago but no one paid any attention to it. now its all the rage...i would buy a new radio with that feature if i hadnt just bought one. good excuse to upgrade

I guess I will just have to get one and let everybody know how it works. I am not going to pay $10-$12 a month for XM.

I am not so sure about getting XM at this point... Sirius radio is buying them out.. Thats why all of the major sports are going to Sirius. Baseball, Basketball, Football, NASCAR, etc.......
