With this focus on driver education in mind, we set out to gauge the current knowledge of the American public with the second annual GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test. Shockingly, 1 in 11 licensed drivers would fail a written drivers test if taken again today.

Now, you can take the test yourself and see how you measure up. Answer the following 20 questions taken from written state drivers tests, and you will be given your score at the end. Good luck!

95% first try.

But I also think everyone should have to take the written test and road course every 5 years. By road course, I mean actually getting out in real traffic. For my road course when I was 16, I literally didn't get more than 40-50 feet away from where I started, just stayed on little road around the DMV place... To test parking on a hill, he told me to pull over and act like I was parking on a hill. Of course, I had points taken away because I was like "WTF is going on?!". It's not like we couldn't have driven 2 minutes to a hill, there were plenty nearby...

100% first try, although most of the questions seemed like common sense, or I remember from drivers ed. (about 4 yrs ago).

90% first try......#8 is tricky, all three are valid answers, esp. when dealing with car theft.

haven't taken a drivers test in 23 years.........but I think it should be done every 4 years in Ohio when you renew you DL, every 1 or 2 years once you reach 60.

The question that alway gets people......

Your on a four lane undivided when a school bus stop heading the opposite way. What do you do?

A) stop and wait for bus passengers to unload

B) slow and look at the pretty school girls

C) run over a bully

D) do nothing, continue driving

E) avoid the dumbshits that stopped

E & C :D:D Fuck bullies!

How about this, real question when my friends took the KY driver test.

An animal runs out into the road, do you:
a) swerve to avoid it
b) try to stop
c) hit it

if you don't know, you hit it. Apparently there's too many smal;l animals in KY?

A score of 70% or better is considered passing on a state written drivers test. The correct answers are highlighted below.
im the lowest of the group but im not one of the ten people that would have failed this i guess.

the hill question is bs...so you wanna turn into the curb while facing downhill...but its ok to let the car barrell ass outta control facing uphill if something were to go wrong...

95% missed the one on the crosswalks because i read through it too fast.
It's been 26 years since i took my drivers test.

That's what they taught us in high school drivers ed. But if a child runs out in front of you avoid at all costs.

Parking facing down hill you should turn the wheel toward the curb. If the car starts to roll the tire will stop the car when it hits the curb.

I've moved a few times and have had to take driving tests in other states... so I guess it's fresh in my mind.

#8 got me and so did #12 (oncoming car with high beams). There was no "lay on the horn and display your middle finger" option, so I got confused.

Parking on a hill is kinda tricky ?'s. You should park with your front wheels toward the curb on a down hill, and away from the curb up hill. They figure the car will roll into the cub facing down hill this way, and if your facing up hill the wheels will also hit the curb before it rolls out in traffic.

transzex

It won't roll out into traffic if your facing uphill and the wheel cut towards the curb, it "may" roll up the curb. But if it rolls up the curb (back tire) there wasn't enough curb to prevent it from rolling INTO traffic if you had the wheels pointed away from the curb.

90% first try. I got these two wrong:

6. Highways are most slippery: (Select one)

a. During a heavy rainstorm
b. During a light rain
c. Just when it starts to rain after a dry spell

I put a, correct answer is c. We don't have many dry spells in my opinion, usually it rains or snows.

18. Which of the following is used on some highways to direct drivers into the proper lanes for turning: (Select one)

a. Flashing red lights
b. Flashing yellow lights
c. White lines on the side of the road
d. White arrows in the middle of the lanes

I put c, correct answer is d. I don't think I've ever seen them around here so I sort of forgot but now I feel kind of stupid for it! Thanks for the refresher course.
