Hopefully some of you can help me. I realize this is stuff that has probably been asked 20,976,300,956 times, but I'm only getting bits and pieces of information that I need. I own a 1991 CRX DX 5 Speed. I want to spend all winter building & modifying a ZC DOHC motor to swap in come spring.

The things I know are I need a JDM ZC DOHC with OBD0, I want to turbo this, and possibly a small shot of Nitrous (50). I plan on getting a ZC transmission also, and upgrading the clutch.

What would be the best way to go about rebuilding this engine?
Should I order a whole engine, and replace critical components. Or, should I order a block and build from there? (I found a block on eBay that was a ZC16, is that the block that I want?)

What do I want my compression to be, and how do I make sure I get that? (remember, I want to go FI when this motor is swapped in) Also, which Turbo works well with the ZC? I've seen T-25's being used I believe.

What do I need to do to (for lack of a better term) "bullet proof" the engine and transmission to handle the HP and stress?

I hope you guys can provide some information, suggestions, advice, ect. Even if it's flaming me for being new to this Honda thing. But, be gentle. My ultimate goal is to have a relatively stock looking car, but lots of power behind it. The faster I can get it the better... obviously.

I would recommend you get the whole engine to drop in your car and start your build up from there instead of goin piece by piece.... start offf by the basics like cams, intake,ect...then start your work on the valves pistons rods and whatever..take your time...

To make this motor "bullet proof" is an expensive proposition. You can do it if you want, but in my mind usually ends up costing more than its really worth. The man you want the answere from will be Mister Bone. He'll be here soon enogh, and Im sure he would be able to list everything you need.

IMO the first thing you will need is Rod bearings, and perhaps some new rods. D series rods are pretty small. Check Endyne, Egale and APR for this stuff. For these peices. As far as compression goes, I would just add a head plate, but Im not sure what you would want to be at to run both Turbo and a shot together.

I know I havent been much help, but that should give you a place to start.Soon some of the D gurus will jump all over this Im sure.

Well, I went ahead and bought the ZC block. I got it on eBay for $51.00 + shipping. Not too bad I don't think. Now all I need is info on where to find aftermarket internals that will work best for the application that I'll be using them for. (boost  ) I'm also in the process of looking for a ZC head, and doing the same thing. Replacing the Cams, valves, ect. with aftermarket designed for my application.

Any help, advice, tutorials, and links are much appreciated.
