Is there anyway to tell just by reading the the serial number or anything if an ecu is from an automatic or manual car?

I though you just had to change a jumper setting.

I did this conversion. just had to clip the RP 17 resistor. Then it gets rid of the Auto lock up CEL

Correct. I did it in my Si. If you don't do it, you're going to get an intermittent idle that will feel like your IACV is clogged. Removed RP-17 and RP-18 together. I didn't put the jumper on RP18, but some will tell you it's completely necessary. I'm running it on a JDM d15b vtec, and it runs like a charm.
