Got Vtec?

Are there any cheaper ways to hook it up to wireless internet? I don't want to spend the 100 bucks for an adapter if I don't have to. I was reading how you can use a bridge or something but I don't know how that would work. I already have wireless in the house so I don't know if I went with the bridge idea if it would work right. Anyone have any input on this?

In order to connect the 360 to a wireless network it has to be connected to a wireless adapter, there is now ay around that. If you can find a wireless bridge. adapter, or router for cheaper than $100 then you should be able to hook it up to the blue ethernet cable that cam with your system and do it that way. But the adapter really is the best and easiest way to do it, I just wish they were cheaper. I went ahead and just bought one myself.
or some good old fashion long network/ethernet cable lol
20meters will be sufficient

He may run into problems with usb devices because many of them require driver installations and his XBOX 360 OS won't recognize the install CD. But in general yes you're right it does have usb ports, but even connecting a microsoft zune or ipod requires drivers, these however are available for download on xbox live.

it might just see it as a generic wireless device though since it is a computer it still might be able to recognize other hardware i dunno i dont have a 360 and im not that familiar with them

The XBOX 360 won't recognize it because it is not really a fully functional computer in that sense. It has a very basic operating system designed to do a few very specific things. It doesn't have the Windows OS capability to identify a device and look up the drivers for it and install the, because it has no drivers library like Windows. I suppose there is a chance that it willr ecognize it but I wouldn't count on that in any way.

it doesn't work, you would actually need to get something like an access point, something that can be preprogrammed with your network information, i went out and bought an airlink adapter for a couple bucks at fries to try it out and it didn't work, so for now i am sportin the extra long cat 5.

That is exactly why I was suggesting a router or something, because they are usualy programmable access points. I still stand by just buying the adapter is best, even considering the price.
