View Full Version : I think im flooding with fuel instantly...

So im running the V-AFC hack with Eclipse 450cc Blue Tops, and an Eclipse Resistor Pack. If it matters, also running Denso Iridium plugs and Magnecore Wires. I've got it all wired up and had it running before I detonated and destroyed the stock pistons. So I went back in and added ARP head studs, MLS head gasket, SRP 7.5:1 pistons, and Eagle Extra Duty Rods.

Anyhow, got the motor all back together and go to fire her up, and she just sits there and cranks. Checked the spark and its fine. Checked the fuel injector pules, and its fine as well. Fuel pump is fine, combustion is fine. But she doesnt seem to kick over. Figured it was possible the spark plugs were damaged from the detonation as well, so dropped in some split fires from a customers car. Pretty much the same results. So now we disconnect the pulse to the injectors to keep them from firing fuel in to the cylinders. We spray in starter fluid and kick it over. Son of a bitch starts up after a few attempts. So I figure the ignition is fine, and I know the fuel is shooting cause you can smell it when I hook the injectors back up and try again. Only thing I can think of, is the injectors are flooding the cylinder.

I currently have the V-AFC set to...
6 IN / 6 OUT
4 ^
71% / 72%
-39% across the board for lows and -38% across the board for highs

So what do you guys think?

settings look good for the afc. you had the car running on the afc before this all happened right? try leaning the settings out on the 1000rpm for start up maybe this might help? im not sure man i have never had this problem. my 1000rpm setting is -48% on the afc. you check the resistor pack to make sure it has the right amout of resistance? hope you figure out what it is...

good luck

How do I check the resistor pack's resistance, and what should I be looking for with it?

Had you been running the V-AFC before you took apart the engine?

I was having similar problems it wound to be the timing but yours is starting up and running fine correct??

check the main relay under the dash, if its on its way out then the car will just keep turning over, and then eventually start for no apparent reason.

I cant even respond with a good answer to this thread after seeing that car in his signature...

One thing i question is since when do eclipses have resistor boxes? Sounds like your 450s arent installed correctly. Either that or maybe you need to lean out at lower rpms. CONCEPTS!!!!!!!

Yeah mitsu injectors are high impedance, and it defiantley sounds like your timing is off, mine started hella hard but then as soon as the timiing light was on it, it started fine. another thing those injectors maybe too rich on cold start since you only have an afc hack, which cant adjust. Have you tried putting the stock injectors in for start up? If your not on boost you cant really do any damage to the motor.

Timing was fine, injectors were fine, resistor pack was fine....

It was the spark plugs. Dropped in some new NGKs and she cranked over and is running finally.

And BigWig, about the car in my sig... do you have to drive it? No. Then why hate on someone else's pride and joy? Its like posting that you think someone else's kid is ugly. Its not your kid, its not your car, its not your place to make comments.

Your car is still ugly. And please check your references. Ive never heard of any resistor boxes in DSMs. I believe the resistor box probably came out of an old honda. a CRX or something

to run the early DSM's injectors you need a resistor box.

BTW, while I may not like his Del Sol, I do RESPECT the labor that goes into a show car.

I got out of Car Audio because it was becoming a SHOW car thing.

I would give this guy some respect if he wasnt lying out of his ass. Resistor boxes DONT COME OUT OF DSMS! You need to run a resistor box with your honda, but those did not COME OUT OF DSMS!!!!!! which is my whole point

Second, SRP doesnt make 7.5:1 compression pistons. And if he has that low of compression(via 8.5:1 pistons w/ a headgasket or block work) he better have a big fuggin turbo b/c you are going to need atleast twice as much boost to see the same gains at 9's compression. basically this guy is full of shit/is sooooo misinformed/confused as shit.

So no, i wont give anyone respect that is that misinformed. Now enough with the shit talk. stop trying to call me out when you guys dont even notice things like that

im not tryin to jump in the middle of things ... but bigwig is right , there are no dsm resistor boxes ... and 7.5:1 cp .. is realllyyy low .. whats up with that ?

hmmmm i dont see anywhere where it says dsm's have resistor boxes it just says you need to use one on your honda.

Technically, it says it right there.. No harm, no foul. Chances are he know what he meant, it just came out wrong.

But, this thread is done, and heading in a bad direction anyway... sorry, guys. Locked.
