in test flight like that they don't retract the gear they do what's called touch and go's. It's kinda cool they finally gave it's designation it was called the JSF before (joint strike fighter) the navy and marines have a version of it too the marine one is really cool because it has VTOL capabilities

why oh why did they go back to the single jet propulsion.. F22 was where it was at... agile as fuck, that one.

You guys are noobs 8-), its a test flight so that means it hasnt been in the air before, only in the wind tunnel... so the landing gear might go up but when flying it wont come back down.. maybe that is why its called a "test flight" The pilot is a very close friend of my dads... there were over 6000 people there to watch it go off, im in fort worth and it tested over here at lockheed about 20mins from the house. I would have take pictures but he was so far away I wouldnt have gotten very much. I do have some pictures from a fellow photographer that helps me and we take pictures together.

yup if one blows out you may land with one engine yet... one engine and it blows... end of story

Been waiting for this thing a long time.... I grew up near a lookheed base in md. It's a machine for the future, only hope our future gov. applies it to better our society. This thing is suppose to have outstanding maneuverability, and the super-cruise ability of our f22 (sustained super sonic speed without after burner) tax money at work:jesus:
