They played in a little town south of springfield here called ozark at a 2a baseball stadium. I think it was ozfest or something. It was like back in 2001 or something. Ozark is a bible thumper town. The stadium is about a 1/2 mile south of my fiance's parents house and their house faces the south so you could hear it as plain as day. A bunch of people were protesting and her parents and her sisters got offended and left. Their house has a walk out basement in the back with a big upper deck and a big lower deck built around the pool. After they left we got a keg and invited a crapload of people over and swam and listened to the show. It was great.

Playing a double kick pedal is the lazy way to do it. Derek Roddy actually plays with a single pedal and he plays 2.5 times as fast according to the guiness book of world records.

Guys, there are emo dummers hitting the bass kick as fast as metal double bass. My buddy showed me, he goes heel-toe-heel-toe, and still uses the high-hat.
I like Slipknot, they have a large dose of originality in a genre thats overcrowded with suck. Also, they are HELLA talented.
Anyone mentioned the drummer from DMB? He's really good. Theres more to awesome drums than speed, it has to sound like something. Which brings me to the video that started this all: complete crap. Garbage. He's just hitting drums really fast, but theres no musical thought. Fuck man, I can play guitar REALLY fucking fast if I don't have to worry about it sounding like a song. Thats not talent, thats just sitting around hitting things faster every day.
Not saying he's not talented, but it shows a lot more in the songs than that solo. If I didn't know a thing about the guy, I would have just said he sucks.

That definitely wasn't his best solo. I was trying to find the solo off the new 9.0 cd, but that's all i could find. The Mike Portnoy solo is awesome.

Have you ever been to a Godsmack concert? The one they had in Louisville a couple years ago was awesome, in the middle of the set the drummer and Sully did a dualing drum solo. It started out with sully on bongos and shit, then he hoped on a drum set and they started deuling...
Not terribly technical, but its was a fucking blast. Not to mention, they played together and were doing stick tricks in unison, and even passed sticks a few times I think...

eh, i agree with hayzoos. he (the first guy) was just hitting shit really fast. he was ok, but there were quite a few parts in there where he actually played very poorly and was really sloppy. there are much better drummers out there than him. travis barker is amazing, as is the drummer from hatebreed. The Refused had an AMAZING drummer, Rufio's drummer is crazy-fast, and he does it consistantly and precisely (which is what really matters). The drummer from Rufio plays bass just as fast as that guy, and he does not use a double pedal.
Just to name a few...

John Longstreth - Drums (see what happens when you're bored and have nothing to do in Topeka, KS. lol)
when he was in skinless, skinless is from albany, ny i used to go to a club call saratoga winners(www.stepuppresents.com) they played alot of metal there he used to hang out there. i got to hang out w/him alot and drank many, many beers. when origin came thru albany that's when i met them. i heard the cd first and i was like there is no way he can play this. but he did.

for speed death metal there are very little sick drumers. but as for tech spec of playing drums... there are to many to list, but vinny paul abbott(pantera) said it the best "if i can't play it then it's hard."

Keep trying it, it takes a while to get. I've obviously never seen you play but I can guess one problem you might be having that a lot of drummers fall in to. They play the bass with their ankle, not the whole leg. Playing with your whole leg will give you a better sound and much better control once you learn how to use it right. It will also open up the possibility of playing faster because you can actually bounce your leg (just how you bounce the sticks to get a roll). Good luck. :)
