coilover top hat

i got some coilovers and i thought it was as eazy as just slide in the sleeve and spring and put it back together but then what are these and how or where do i put them do i need them they are like some top hats that came with the coilovers

Yes you need them ...top hat sits on top of the spring before putting the top spring prech on...
