Greetings from New Mexico!!! Here is my SOS I recently purchaced an amazingly clean virgin (untuned)1991 civic DX to save on fuel.I really love the car,Wanting to share my enthusism for my find I showed my life long friend, and crazy mustang fanatic ken the car.Ive never been ripped on so bad !This is one of those guys that revs on every honda with a exhaust tip, just to rub the power of his 5.0 in their face!I joined this forum because in new mexico 5.0's run the track the rice just isn't that popular.I know in other places some of you guys have learned how to humble these mustang guys.Ive never been one to enter a pissing contest, but I would sure love to see my buddy have his ass handed to him by my little DX.Is it possible?Where do I start ,Im rockin a D-15B2 Idont want to max out my bottom end and still not be fast enough. The stang is running low 13's. its great to meet all of you!!!

i would start with a complete swap or atleast a vtec head swap with mpfi instead of Dpfi

what would be the least invasive engine to swap into my 91 DX i.e,wiring.Also have you heard of 2800lb civc's in the 13's on the stock crank?

Thanks for the feedback.Hondajosh I do believe you are on to something,if I wanted a b-model Si car I would go buy one.I will use my 91'DX for an education in honda boostin' 101.Head and fuel system Should be my first stop I have every intention of leaving the bottom end alone, but while I have the head off can anybody recomend a camshaft?(streetable)

Didn't know they made a B-series z6?? just kiddin I know what you mean. A good thing to do with the dx's is get away from that d15b2 they are slow. do the mini-me set up or just do a whole z6 swap, they are normally pretty cheap. Plus make sure that you get away from that dpfi bs, it sucks..... With a decent little motor swap and a decent turbo kit you will be able to run with him, especially down at your elevation.

yeah i'm gonna have to agree w/ most of the guys, z6 and a homemade turbo kit, you should be really close to the stang. if you wanted to get a lil crazy you could always spend a little extra and get tuner toys rods and vitara pistons. you should be good to at least 300+ hp. good luck with the build, and keep us updated

No z6 but good site nevertheless. The site had nothing but B-series.The B doesnt look too bad thats alot of hp why dont more of you go with this setup? Why the D16z6 over the b-16a what are the advantages. If i am asking a question that has already been asked please redirect me to the thread.I read alot of them but I cant memorize them all....or can i hmmm...

the reason why many of us stick with a d-series is the benefit of putting a grand into the motor and pulling better hp numbers than putting over 3 grand in the swap and getting less hp.
could easily get 200 hp with a turbo on a z6 without a problem, but only get 160 out of the b16a for 1500 (not including the shipping and install). I personally if i did not have a z6 already, would probably swap in a b anyways, if I was to swap motors, but with me sitting at 125 stock with an easy turbo I will reach the gains I have been looking for.
:TU: good luck with whatever swap you decide on, you wont be disappointed in either really...

d series > b series because you can make so much power for so little money. z6's can usually be had for ~$400; throw a $1000(or less) HMT kit on and you can easily get 200(relaible)whp. throw another ~$500 on vitaras and TT rods, and you can up to 400(reliable)whp.... $1500 b16 doesn't look so hot anymore, does it?
Ultimately you WILL get more power out of a b-series, but it will cost a lot more than building up a d-series....

The problem is I dont have a z6 to start with I have a D-15b2 so an engine swap seems to be unavoidable if i want to see 250-300whp,but that helps a little in making a decision.if im going to piss off my wife by startin a money pit why not really piss her off!!!

sorry to say it, but; yes, a swap is unavoidable. d15 rods are even smaller than d16 rods, so 200 whp is really pushing it... Just cruise the local junk yards and grab a z6 from an EG....
