carbs are cool, but only on a non vtec

how do you plan on activating vtec and adjusting the fuel to compensate? with an efi setup you have full control over everything, carbs you dont

hahaha i never even though about that....vtec solenoid is useless without an ecu hahaha thanks ryan....jesus when i dont sleep much i think like a complete idiot

hahaha i never even though about that....vtec solenoid is useless without an ecu hahahawell you could activate it with an rpm activated switch, but that still doesnt allow for fuel correction

You can hook vtec up to a shift light, thats what I did. Im runing a holly dirt track carb on my old dual point mani. I had a holly plate welded on. It can be done with vtec. Its just alot easier to do with nonvtec. I had a small fire and it set me back a few months. But I will get some pics up soon.

My mani runners are way to small, Im going to have to build a mani soon.

i've heard about the rpm activision switch, but should the engine retard when the vtec kiks in?

It *could* be done with some careful tuning. Especially with the sohc VTECs that are not as aggressive... Carbs can and do deal with changing fuel requirements as the RPMs rise. Carbs will see the x-over as a sudden RPM/pressure rise and if proper main/air jets are selected can be tuned. Will still end up running a little rich at lower end, but it wouldnt be *too* bad, imo... But would be a PITA to tune...

And as was said, VTEC could be engaged with an RPM switch.

Yup...

Why not huh, I mean, if this works properly so should a SOHC Vtec :

B16a + Webers is a pretty popular combination in dirt-track autocrossing over here (most of them in the back of a tube chassis with a VW Bug or Citroën 2CV body).

Ditto, pic was taken by someone I know, I hardly go to autocross events (no time).
