Alright guys, my car smokes alot when i redline and its blue smoke, but then my car has 193,xxx miles on it, i really think its the rings though. i was told not to use synthetic oil i was told to use heavier oil non synthetic, what do you guys think?, and what should i use to treat the rings for now because i know the thing aint gonna blow up on me, i just want the smokeing to stop and to put as much life in it as i can

what about valve seals? Those could be a possible cause too.

Valve seals will cause it to smoke at redline, and when the motor's under compression.

Don't run a heavier oil, or anything like that. There are no 'tricks' that will stop it from smoking AND not screw up your engine.

Do a leak down test if you want to know for sure. If everything turns up OK, then check your valve seals (which is what I suspect it is)

This same happened to me with my old D15B2, and I've heard and seen it happen to many other ppl too. Replacing valve seals didn't help at all, and my engine had very constant compression and -leakdown results inside factory specs.

I've figured out that oil rings used in these engines tend to "fatigue" out at around 300k kilometers (or ~200k miles), and replacing piston rings(and honing cylinders) have helped other ppl too with this problem. I still haven't rebuilt my D15, but there's nothing else left than rings..

About the oil, I tried even 20W-50 Valvoline Racing mineral oil, and it smoked and consumed oil as bad as with 10W-40 semi synthetic..

With that many miles, I would got ahead and change the rings and the valve seals.

I would actually recommend to overhaul the whole engine, and not just changing a couple of vital parts.. Blueprint everything etc u know.

my car does the exact same things but with only 125k on it, but i'll just continue to feed it oil.

your Rings are toast!! you need to rebuild your lower end.....how much oil is it eating after you add to it?? my car does this some as well when i rev it up....and i am eating quart ever 3 days....not only that....i had everything in the head redone...also a nice port job to go along....do a comp test...and check that....

Compression test is a must, 184 is normal but anything like 135 or lower is bad...

Same here, I got a D15 in my car that smokes like crazy, I ordered those cheap NPR rings on ebay today for it just so it will stop smoking until my Z6 is ready, its got good compression I got like 175 -180-185-170 dry and 205-210-218-212 wet, I also tried the engine restores...it actually smoked alot less with the engine restore in it, I changed the oil and replaced the Honda 10-30 with Valvoline 20-50w went back to buring just as much as with the 10-30w, its a shit motor so I really dont care about the oil pump or the longterm life of the motor I just need it for like 2 months until the other one is ready...
