Anyone have expirience with crower 4340 steel billet connecting rods?

how do they compare to Eagle H-Beams, and how do the rod bolts compare to ARP 2000's? Crower claims that they are the best rod in the sport compact industry and that they're rod bolts are stronger than arp.

can anyone verify this?

let me know what your opinions are.

thanks

my crower's had arp bolts with them ...... but they are the bee's knee's......

and the highest priced, go with the rods made by www.tunertoys.com

for 300 hp and 225 bucks they will be all you need !!!!!

well thats what i was originally going to do, but then i decided to go ahead and spend the extra $90 and get the Eagle h-beams from tunertoys.com, which come with the arp 2000.........i do not believe that the tunertoys brand rods come with the 2000's.

i Have the extra money to get the eagles, and i ultimately decided to go with the eagles just because i dont want to have to mess with shaving the TT rods to make fit. I know that sometimes the rods work just fine right out of the box, but i would rather save myself a headache and go with the eagles.

The only reason im asking about crower is because i was just offered a set with ACl bearings for just under the price of the Eagle H-beams.

I really prefer to just get brand new rods, and im assuming b/c of the price of the crowers that they are used. That may not be a big deal for them to be used, but i woud like to start with a fresh motor..........all new parts except the crank, which will be micropolished.

mine were used, no big deal, as long as they look to be smooth in the journals, and not stressted out, go ahead....:TU:

you might call/email TT and see what hardware the rods come with, and how much extra the arp bolts are......?

just a whim

you said you used crower rods..........how much did you pay for yours (if you dont mind me asking), which style are they (model number) and how did you like them. Are they comparable to eagle?

thanks

Crower rods are tits!

but if you are looking at econo-billets, remember they are basically the same as Eagles...

Crower rods are tits!

and im assuming thats a good thing...............;)

i dont think they are echono billets.......they are the steel billets.

so basically, whether i ran crower or eagle, they would both be able to reliably handle 300whp, and the rod bolts in both will be able to handle 8000 rpm's?

The same notching will be required to the block out of both sets, and both are a direct bolt up to srp pistons......correct?

yup, those rods are nice. better than Eagles apparently

as long as they have ARP2000 bolts, they should handle 8000 just fine

both will fit SRP pistons, and i believe both will require notching

Both rods will easily handle the power you wan't to make...
The key is to stretch/torque the bolts properly... That's the weakest link... About 4 years ago, I was at RPM NYC, and they had a fully built (not by them???) d16 that had under 2000 miles and had thrown a Crower billet rod through the block. They said one of the ARP rod bolts had backed out/snapped... oops...

Personally, with the 300 HP goal, you will be fine with Tuner Toyz, Eagles, Crower, Scat, whatever.....it might be a different story after you increase your power goals beyond, but all of these companies still desgin there rods to at least handle that without a hicup, after that is said and done, Get the ARP 2000 bolts, and the cheapest out of the bunch, and call it a day and be happy.....besides, no one can see ur internals anyways....be happy with the cheaper cost and the benifet that they hold fine, and stuff that down someones throat....haha

i ran eagle h-beams in my turbo car with no problems. the guy i sold the car to blew it up becuase he got addicted to the boost and kept saying "just one more psi."

i was under the impression that the eagle/SRP combo would support 400hp with all of the supporting mods....

Per Srp a few years ago - they rate their pistons at 100hp per hole... Anything more and they recommend the JE line which use a different alloy.
Then again, when I did my research, they weren't making 300+ hp on vitaras...
