What size injectors do I need for my T3/T4 Turbo kit? I have a 98 D16y7 with I/H/E and a Y8 intake manifold.

Also, do I need to upgrade the fuel pump?

What else will I need? An FMU?

Thanks,

Dan

FMU's = blown motors. Convert from OBD2-OBD1 and get your ecu chipped and have the car properly tuned!

check the stickies in the Forced Induction and Engine Management sections

450's with a resistor box, convert to obd1 and chip your ecu and run crome. FMU's are junk, also a walbro 190 or 255 fuel pump wont hurt. Added insurance if you want my opion :TU:

read that man........should get you started. It is a little outdated so the engine management section needs more info so ill go ahead and list it for ya.

hondata is not the only option anymore.....there is free software that works just as good and there is other software that you have to pay for, but is still cheaper than hondata with the boost option. However, in order to use any sort of software, including hondata, you must have a wideband, a chipburner, a computer, and extensive knowledge of tuning (or at least enough to get you started). A few more things to look into is an Moates ostrich, which allows for real-time tuning and also you may want to look into data logging. but some software to look into include:

hondata
uberdata
neptune
turboedit
crome
crome pro.

i know for a fact that you cannot use turbo edit b/c it is obd0 support, and i believe uberdata, crome and neptune are obd 1 support only, so you may have to do a conversion.

but DO NOT use an fmu. Waste of time and money, and probably a waste of a perfectly good turbo build and motor.

missing link is crap x2

you base the size injector you need on how much WHP your planning on putting down. Not by turbo size or PSI!

You base it off of crank hp not whp.You will have more crank hp then you do wheel hp since 10-14 percent maybe lost due to drivetrain losses friction etc etc.

Here is a basic guide we use for injector sizing.

310cc 200~220whp
370cc 220~280whp
440cc 280~330whp
550cc 330whp~380whp
660cc 380whp~425whp
720cc 425whp~475whp
880cc 475whp~525whp
980cc 525whp~600whp

We run as big as 440s on the stock pump with no upgrades. Above that we suggest the Walbro 190LPH (Low Pressure) pumps. It's not until you get up into the much higher HP ranges, that you would need anything larger than that, or the high pressure versions.

Also, although the DSM 450s and a resistor box will work for you car, we do offer direct replacement injector sets up to 550cc, that don't require you to modify your harness at all. They are a direct fit both physically and electrically.

I agree with EG8SIR and others here when they suggest to stay away from FMUs and go with a chipped solution. FMUs are a waste of time, you can get much greater performance out of a real tuning solution.

Hope that helps,

Craig
