After i installed ny new edelbrock proflo header i took my car for a ride :) , rolled window down, noticed that my exhaust is leaking. I installed all the new gaskets and donut. Ohhh one more thing cel came on:( o2 is hooked up, is this right or not?
Should the exhaust be louder?
Thanks

don't know about the leak make sure you tightened everything up and as for the o2 sensor you didn't touch the end of the sensor with your hands did you. if you did it messes with the reading the o2 gives to the ecu. been there done that. unfortunatly

how do you clean the o2 sensor if you touched it?

dont think so...

well it does anyone of you guys have a problem with buring oil or had a head gasket let go and never replaced the o2. well the light usually comes on i deal all day with this stuff, carbon and unburned fuel can be burned off but grease and oil usually don't plus the clog the o2 itself thats when you get the cel

ive pulled my o2 tons of times, wiped the carbon off with my bare fingers, and NEVER ONCE had a CEL when i started the car. ive even done it with my wideband and not had any issues...

+2...I vote reset ecu...if not, fuck it!! although that exhaust leak would piss me off...start the shit up, get underneath it and find it with ur bare hand...you'll hear it, and then put your hand an inch away from the pipe, you will feel warm air blowing out...TADAAH! you found the leak!! sometimes crappy headers will leak I heard...

when i swapped my motor out i dropped my o2 on the floor, cleaned all the dirt off with my bare fingers and then reinstalled it on the new motor with no problems.

yeah... my header is leaking too - but mainly when it's cold. if i get the car warm... the "raspy" exhaust leaky sound goes away... but then if i want to floor it ... i have to "prepare" the exhaust by reving it getting it hot a bit...then i can gun it without hearing that leaky noise...

same header... i knew something would come up because fitment wasn't ideal. like really not ideal. but it fit. if that makes any sense.

what header is better? megan or edlebrock?

and also how does one go about cleaning a clogged o2 sensor?

I would get electromotive electric parts cleaner if I were to do it myself, although I agree with the above posters.

The stuff is at the auto parts store... it leaves no residue when it dries.

Congrats! Those can be a pain in the butt.

My "common" header leaks from the old days--
-upper flange not flat, leaks at the head
-cheapo headers always leak in the middle due to flexing if they use a flat gasket, not the good crush rings like honda or edelbrock
-soot on the rounded flange on the front of the cat is formed to the old header, clean it out before putting it together. Typically a donut on the new header will go into that flange at a slightly different angle, and the carbon buildup can prevent a good seal.
