well i currently have i/h/e and i am soon adding on an EX intake manifold. i want to order a camshaft down the road along with a chipped po6. my question is that if i install a delta 282 cam with the chipped po6, will the car run with my obd-2 ecu in it? im hopping it will work because i live in california and smog tests are strict.

excuse me if i'm wrong, but if you're having to take smog tests, do they allow you to have an obd1 ecu on an obd2 car?

no i plan to put the obd-2 ecu back in for emmission tests. i am wondering if the ecu can run the car with a delta 282 camshaft. it should pass with the aftermarket cam but will it run ok?

use a fuel pressure regulator and run the pressure around 30psi when going for smog.

when i lived in cali. had a friend who worked at gas station he allways hooked me up with smog test. just pay someone to pass. i dont kknow if things have changed with the test.

that's nice and all, but a hefty fine if you get caught. the store would lose their license i'm pretty sure.lol
btw, one reason vtec is beautiful in obd2.

i know i'll pass the emmissions part because i'll be running two catalytic converters. i only have one cat (which i had welded into my magnaflow system) on while i have my header installed. the other is apart of the stock manifold which i'll be putting back on.
its just i dont even know if it will work with the stock obd-2 ecu.

i'm pretty sure it's going to bog like hell in the lower rpms with the stock ecu. what injectors are you going to use, this will make a difference when going back to the stock ecu as well.

my friend is selling me his y8 mani, hoses, fuel rail, and y8 injectors for $100 so i'll just install all of it so my car will have a bit more fuel goin into it. mostly for the chipped po6 but if it will help the obd-2 ecu then great.

you're going to need to run the pressure kind of low with obd2 ecu since it's running the stock maps for 190cc injectors.

so at like 20psi instead of 30psi? will i run rich or throw codes if i put the y8 injectors on?

i'm thinking as far as smog goes. if the car isn't at an efficient level where they test it at, it's going to fail. so think about what rpm they test the car at, a wide band would be good.

when u go for smog.. spend the 20 minutes to put the stock cam back in and redo the valve lash go for smog pass get home swap cams..
u think ur gonna have fun.. i gotta take my whole turbo kit off in 5 months for smog

damn and im bitching about taking off the header in 9 months. i thought that camshafts took ALLOT longer than a measley 20 minutes to swap. i was just gonna have this car shop install it for me and tune it with an adjustable cam gear.

yea its easy... as long as you dont pull the endcaps off the rockerarm assembely and loose 4 vtec pins in the rocker arms... lol
no im just kidding.. seriously its really easy what i do is take the valvecover off..loosen the camgear bolt take off the timingbelt take off the dizzy unbolt the 4 10 mm bolts on each side (by the dizzy and by the camgear) unbolt the rest of the valvetrain bolts... lift it straight up set it in the valvecover swap cams and put it all back together.. its really easy

i've never been able to adjust a set of valves in 20 minutes.

aight so i see how to install the camshaft but what about the valve settings? how do you go about that little conundrum?
