I've heard that slotted and drilled rotors are much more prone to warping/breaking. Especially if you live somewhere where it gets cold. I'd just go with blank rotors and green stuff pads

It is all based on personnal preference if you ask me, I am using brembo slotted rotors with hawk pads and they are great. I had them on for about a year or so with no problems...

my slotted warped on me and so did the drilled I had. I went to autozone and got some duralast oem ones. been fine so far. When I get the money I'm going with brembo blanks and hawk pads

If you can help it, and spend extra for them, I'd get the brembo. If not, get what you can afford (we shouldn't skimp on brakes and tires) from Autozone. I just went through a headache with axles and they were really cool about switching them out for me.
Brakes, tires... I'd make sure I could walk into the store if things go wrong.
I agree with Hellhatch.
Brembo blanks are about $30/pair last time I looked. Pads were $40-$50.
Keep in mind that the slotted/drilled/dimpled rotors aren't turn-able.

I am switching to the slotted/diamond etched rotors for auto-x and track days. I have heard good things about those but their are expensive.

yes they are, brembo says the max tolerance for tuning is down to the bottom of the slots......

Thanks! for the good info.....And thank you all you guys for the good info as well....I think i am going to replace my oems with some Brembo;s and from there ill have to decide on which pad to use.....def aint going with anything cheap...Brakes ESPECIALLY in Califonia are a fucking must!!! drivers out here are crazy and will cut in front of you, slam there brakes, etc.....its like a fucking Herd of retarded cattle out here....
Here's what you do: Get the cheap rotors at Napa or Autozone (15$ each) and get some great pads (I like Hawk HPS)
That's all you need... the rest is useless bling unless you track (In which caseyou would stay with blanks, get HP+ or blues)
Seriously, my 300mm discs were 20$ at Napa (see avatar)

What do you currently have? cx/dx or si brakes... i say si brakes and good pads.

right now i got DX brakes, and drummies in the back!
I did my brakes before my motor... if you want to go fast, you better be able to stop fast...
Incidently, I'm going to go down from 11.8" back to 11.1"... 11.8" is overkill and can't fit my 15's...

So you are currently boosting....and using the same setup you stated earlier...? i need to know cause if this is the case ill go to auto zone and get the cheaper ones or the brembos for 30 bucks are nothing either....same with pads...still cheap if you ask me....anyways...let me know thank you..:)
I am currently at 272hp 240tq. I have an ITR 5lug setup which I increased to RL sized rotors (11.8"*26mm) These brakes are huge, and way overkill for my ride (until I start tracking the car)
I am going to go back down to the factory ITR size (11.1"*21mm) or perhaps legend (11.1"*26mm)
If you have the factory SI/EX brakes, IMHO, you are fine with cheap blanks and a great set of pads. In all my brake upgrading, i've noticed that the rotors are basically just cast iron heat sinks, and the pads and tires are really what make the biggest difference. A friend of mine uses the autozone cheapies and HP+ pads on his stock 00 dx hatch, and he brakes about as hard as I do...
Having a great set of pads usually means you'll be changing them more often, and when you change your pads, you might as well just go back to napa, and throw on another set of cheap rotors and quit worrying about warping your precious brembos...
BTW, after you do a hard run, try to go and cool down your brakes by driving nice and easy on them. It will help avoid warping which commonly occurs when people don't cool down their brakes and they cool unevenly (pads keep one area hotter for longer)

If you drag race, go for smaller rotors(9.5" FTW!). I got 10.3" on my Civic, they are plenty.
I wouldn't trust ebay rotors, if you want drilled, go with Brembo(haven't heard much issues from them). That brings up the question, do you want to stop faster or just look pretty? :)

On a semi-related question, would you trust ebay ss brake lines?
I'm thinking of maybe upgrading to ss since my brake lines are starting to crack.
I also noticed all the ones for EFs are only for 4 wheel disk models...are there any kits for cars with drums out back?

Killer info.....Thanks a mill this helped solve my question! Rep for good answer!
And yes i wanted a setup to be able to stop quicker smoother etc.....
yes they are, brembo says the max tolerance for tuning is down to the bottom of the slots......
I stand corrected! I never found anyone who would do it though.
