For removal, impact or a long breaker bar.
For porting, read as much as you can on the internet and go to a machine shop and look at some heads. Inline or 4-valve, it doesn't matter. There are basic principles in both that are common. Honestly, the Roush bit (now sold by ?) is the best carbide bit for aluminum EVER. However, use cast iron carbide bits since you are just starting out. Specific alum ones will eat into a water jacket quick if you don't know how to use it.
